Please help me interpret test results

Hello all, I just got back the results of some recent blood work and I'm wondering if you can help me in figuring out what they mean. My doctor is closed for the weekend and I'm freaking out a bit.

Hepatitis B Core Antibody, Total Nonreactive - Nonreactive      
Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Confirmation - Nonreactive 

Hepatitis B Surface Antibody
Hepatitis B Surface Antibody Result - <3.10 
Hepatitis B Surface Antibody Interpretation - Nonreactive

Hepatitis B Surface Antigen w/Rflx Confirmation
Hepatitis B Surface Ag Index - 1.33  H 
Hepatitis B Surface Antigen - Reactive 

I'm wondering how I can be non reactive for 'Surface Antigen Confirmation', but reactive for 'Surface Antigen w/Rflx Confirmation'. Does this mean anything? Do I have HBV?

Hi itme and welcome.
I had to check a few websites. And I'm still not sure.

Reflex confirmation detects the hbsag protein on the surface.
According to diolab. com. You may want to read the first paragraph.

Your 3 values:
Hbsag -
Hbcab-
Hbsab-
Tells me no current or previous infection.
Your liver enzymes show no inflammation

I'm thinking your index of 1.33 is a cutoff ratio. Which is a Elisa test.

Thank you, ppm guy! I really appreciate the response and you looking into this. In case my copied and pasted results above were unclear, I'm showing the actual document below. What's throwing me off is that is shows my HbSAg as reactive but also then shows HbSAg Confirmation as non-reactive. I think it means I may be in the clear, but I wonder why the one is reactive. Any other thoughts would be much appreciated!

The comments on your lab report are helpful.

Your index of 1.33 is a very weak positive. The reference range is (1). The recommendation to repeat the test, would be best.

Is that why they also ran what they're calling "Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Confirmation", which then came back as nonreactive? If I'm interpreting it right, the initial test came back as a weak positive, so a secondary "confirmation" test was run. I'm just not sure if I have that in the right order. Thanks again!

Quite possibly!!! Yes you have the right order..if you are seeing a GI dr. He will know what to do.

You'll be fine. Let me know what the dr says.

I had hep b in 1968.. I didn't know I had it. My friend, who I hadn't seen in 3 months, called me and told me to get tested. I had it and fought it off by then.

I finally had the chance to meet with my doctor today. Her interpretation since I was reactive for Hep A antibodies, is that I was immunized for both A and B at one point and my Hep B antibodies are no longer strong enough that they registered as weekly reactive antigens. It seems far-fetched. Nonetheless, she assured me that the confirmatory test is the final say and since that showed as nonreactive that I negative. She also said since I don't work in the healthcare field, nor am I traveling to any high-risk countries, that I don't need to get retested.
