My partners is diagnosed with alcohol hepatitis,we have been together for four years.When we first meet he was never a heavy drinker,I don't know how we got to this point,seeing all swallow kill me on inside.My partner father said I should just leave him alone let him think,but I'm scary for his life.I ask my work for absent release ,so I can't watch over him,I'm scare, I can't sleep ,I don't want when find out that doctors say I can't stay with him.i don't know what do...

Hi Angelnigth and welcome,
Sorry about your situation. Does he have cirrhosis?? If he has cirrhosis, he had been drinking heavy for years.. Has this hepatitis diagnoses changed his drinking habit? Is he working and handling his responsibilities?

Take care of you first. I would not stop working, focusing on other things can help you. I hear the desperation in your words. You may need to find help for yourself. Talking with others in your same situation can help. Al anon and some online groups can help you understand this disease better. And what to expect.

I watched my brother drink until he got cirrhosis, and still would not stop. He quit drinking after his dr told him he went too far and needed a transplant. While waiting, he got cancer of the liver.

Our search on the blue line above is loaded with stories of alcoholic hep.
Hopefully others will post to you. Let me know how things are going, or need to ask questions.

I am the loved one also...though much older...alcoholic cirrhosis can be a tough disease...hard on the patient and hard on the loved ones. I agree with ppm guy...focus on you, go to meetings, post on the help sites on the web.

No one can make another quit smoking, drinking, using drugs...that has to be the abuser. What you can choose is how you behave, how you feel, what you do next. I wish you well. I stayed with my drinking man way too many years, and when he got really sick I looked after him. He needed a transplant, had Hep C and liver cancer as well...so he was really really sick. He has not had a drink since September 27, 2010. He got a second chance and is doing really well. I used to wish there was a crisis that would snap him out of the drinking...well that happened 6 years ago...he almost died. too bad he had to get so sick before he could do the right thing.
