Cirrohosis with normal blood tests?

My spouse has been a heavy drinker for years. about 4 years ago he was diagnosed with fatty liver. He hasn't gotten another ultrasound since then. His recent blood tests were normal except his red blood count was low. Is it possible to have liver disease with normal blood tests?

Hi marip1 and welcome,
It is possible to have early stages of liver disease, with normal blood tests. However not with cirrhosis, as stated in your topic.. Liver disease can be Asymptomatic for years, so don't get too comfortable, continue to check his liver.

Blood tests aren't everything. My hubby has normal or near normal numbers and needs a transplant.

Talk to his doctor, Go with him to his appointments and ask if it's cirrhosis or just fatty liver. He may need more tests.
