hi gypsy and welcome,
I hope your feeling better, now that youre home.
Stopping drinking and following a diet, will slow down, or stop the progression of your cirrhosis. Staying dry and limiting sugar could help your liver heal somewhat..
I don't know how advanced your cirrhosis is; fresh fruit and veggies should be most of the carbs you eat.
I would stick to white meat chicken for my main protein source. Red meat is much harder to digest, and can cause problems if you have HE. Read labels to eliminate excess salt. try to stay under 1,000 mg daily. it can make you retain water. read labels also to avoid sucrose or fructose, which are used frequently in processed foods. for fluids, I drink water and some Gatorade, if youre not limited on fluids..
I had hep c, and alcoholic cirrhosis. I quit drinking when I found out I had hep c, and cured my hep c in 2012. I got hep c in the 60s and drank daily for 25 years. my liver healed somewhat after getting rid of the hep c and alcohol. today my liver fibroscan shows a normal surface, and a little scarring that will never heal. But my liver functions normally..
Let me know what your symptoms are, or if I can help with any questions you have.
