Help please! Symptoms showing up

I have been a heavy drinker off and on for 20 years. More in the last 2 years with fear of loss of job etc.. I’m not proud of it, and have quit for good now. After these tests, I’m going to AA.

1 month ago, I noticed pale diarrhea. I went to doctor and I did a blood panel that showed AST and ALT in 240 range.

Diarrhea has subsided, but pale stool remains. But, I have a dull abdomen ache now mainly on right side. It comes and goes.

I did another test and got the results a few weeks later. AST 125 / ALT 400

I am seeing a specialist next week.

All other liver function test are not elevated.

Any thoughts or opinions would help - good or bad.

Nothing to be ashamed of. Most liver disease is self inflicted. I had cirrhosis from hep c and alcohol. Staying dry, is the cure. It took me a couple times to quit. But getting liver cancer or liver failure helped me get there. My twin passed away from liver cancer. He couldn’t quit.

Pale stools are a sign of advanced liver damage, and upper right quadrant liver discomfort is also a sign o f moderate to severe liver damage. Since your ast/alt is now in proper ratio, hopefully you’ve quit in time. Glad your seeing a liver dr.. they’re the only Drs, who should monitor hepatitis.

Since your liver is still functioning properly, you can still beat this alcoholic hepatitis. Removing the source of inflammation: in your case, the alcohol. In my case it was alcohol and curing the hep c. I had cirrhosis that was compensated (no necrosis), and my liver healed itself. Amazing that the liver can regenerate from cirrhosis.

Has your liver dr asked you to get an ultrasound or mri to check for liver cancer?
Has your dr doing a biopsy, or fibroscan?
