Hi, I,ve not been feeling well now for about 5 months, my liver enzyme levels were elevated to about 10 times the normal amount, my liver has been inflammed,i,m nauseated, vomitting,have pale color skin ,have very smelly stools and urine as well, my feet and hands are swollen as well. i have constant pain in the area of my liver as well as it is swollen around that area. and laely i have been getting dizzy as well. now the docotrs tell me my liver enzyme levels are back to normal i still feel awful, anyone know whats wrong , if you do please lert me know much thanks to you if you do.

 Hi, I do have hep c and I did not have any symptoms at all.  They found mine because I went to the dr. for something else and my liver enzymes were 158 and 56. They then did all the other tests and confirmed a positive result for hep c.  My liver enzymes have been normal only 1 times out of about 10 in the last 2 years but my viral loads has continues to drop from 160,000 to 9500. So I'm not a dr. but from what I know most people have no symptoms of hep c.  So I would say it was probably not that.

I think you should see a gastrointerologist.  I had a bit of an accident with the door, and ended up going to the hospital where I found out I had cryptogenic hepatitis. No symptoms at first but they came on shortly after that.

Welcome to the forum, it's a great place to start.

Your liver counts can go up and down with hepatitis, your best bet is to see a gastroenterologist and the sooner the better. You have many of the symptoms of Hep, but there are great new treatments coming out soon, so don't despair even if you do.

Meanwhile, you should totally abstain from alcohol and go on a high protein, low-sodium diet. The swelling is fluid retention so regardless of what it is, the low sodium diet is a good start.

Your gastro doc will know much more after further testing.

Please come back and let us know how you're doing, there are lots of folks here that have been down that road, or are caregivers with much experience and knowledge.

Hi.

Definitely go see a GI doctor. He can run a series of tests that can check the antigens and/or viral load. It's a simple blood test. They can tell if you have hepatitis or have been exposed to it. Sometimes your body can actually "fight" it off (probably not the correct terminology, but trying my best to explain it), so the doctors are able to tell if you have been exposed to it. With some people, it doesn't go away therefore your liver gets affected. I don't know much about Hepatitis C, but I do know a lot about Hepatitis B (that's what my mom has).

When liver enzymes are elevated, it means inflamation. It doesn't however mean that because your liver enzymes are elevated, that you have hepatitis. There are other things they can look for as well, via blood tests. I believe the doctors can do an abdominal ultra sound and a triple phase CT scan (CT w contrast) and even an MRI, to get a better picture of what is going on with your liver.

Your GI doctor would be the best person to direct all your questions to. This way, he/she can help rule out what exactly is going on with you. Good luck!
