Hello, my dad has been diagnosed with advanced liver cirrohsis. I have the following information from the doctors report:
Advanced liver disease with a creatinine of 111, albumin 24, bilirubin 158, ALP 201, AST 162 and ALT 75. Of note his iron binding saturations are over 95% with ferritin of over 1600. His alpha-fetoprotein is normal at 1. PT23.7, INR 1.9, haemoglobin 11.9, platelets 87 and while count 4.2. His autoimmune profile is negative and his viral serology for hepatitis B and C is also negative. A CT scan has shown a small, shrunken liver with caudate lobe atrophy and moderate to extensive ascites. The portal vein is patent and there is hypervascular lesion.
My family have been aware that my dad had cirrohsis but not this severe. He is still going to work and is in general good spirits. However, his apearance is yellow/grey and he really doesn't look well. I am trying to find some ray of hope amongst all the negative info.
Can anybody give me a rough guess at how much time I have left with my dad.
Is there any treatments he really should be having now?
Thank you for taking the time to read all this.
Laura
