Hi, I was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis at 12 years old...and have been off and on Imuran and Prednisone since (I am 25 now). Well after getting off imuran in order to try and get pregnant, my liver enzymes went up (300's) and so I was put on prednisone. Now that I am off pred and my enzymes are normal again..I was talking with my GI doctor and she told me that I cant have children because of my cirrhosis. She said I would go into hepatic failure and that i could bleed to death with my low platelet count (90's). I was hoping I could find some hope on here..i have been a married a year and my husband and I really want children. I am very upset and sad right now and plan on getting a second opinion. She has always told me I would be a highrisk pregnancy but never that I couldnt/shouldnt get pregnant. I feel like she has been giving me the run around. I feel perfectly fine as long as I am on meds. If anyone knows any information on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello Teacher24, I myself don't know anything about
autoimmune hepatitis. Nor anything about
pregnancy with it. But I wanted you to know that I wish you well with your second opinion and your quest to have a child.

Hi Teacher, some of the people on the lupus forum also have ai liver problems and definitely have platelet problems. You might check there. I'm sorry that the doctor told you this and maybe the second opinion will help.
