transplant 6 month restriction

Question, is there any hospital that has a shorter time limit than 6 months for liver transplant due to alcohol use.

Welcome to healingwell Janieb. In answer to your question I am not sure but there maybe, but I kind of doubt it. They want to make sure that he will not go back to drinking if he gets a new liver. Are they making him go to AA? That's usually one of the requirements along with the 6 month sobriety for alcohol induced cirrohsis. What are some of his symptoms and does he have other health issues besides the cirrohsis? May thoughts and prayers will be with you.

I agree with Pink. He must have documented proof of 6 months of sobriety through AA, to be placed on the transplant list. Once that is achieved, Mayo Clinic (Rochester, AZ, and Jacksonville, FL) has the shortest wait time for transplant of any other facility in the country (30 days or less.)
