Liver disease symptoms.

Hi, im a 17 yr old male from the UK. ive had this occasional dull ache, hardly noticable until i think about it and it gets uncomfortable. its not a pain, just a feeling of tension around my lower right ribcage. its been around for quite a few months just sometimes being able to feel it and sometimes not. i went to the doctors a few months ago and he had a feel around and coulnt feel anthing abnormal and didnt suggest any tests./ ive had one episode of unprotected sex jsut over a year ago and was tested for stds not hep. is a dull ache around that area recognized as a symptom for hep? or is it muscluar or unrelated? i cant figure out what it is. ive had no exposure to blood as far as i know. and no other way i can think of contracting it apart from the brief unprotected sex encounter with a female friend.

could anyone offer any advice as to wether this is an issue concerning my liver and worth blood tests?

Hey Charles111,

I have a 21 yr. old son with cirrhosis of liver from Hep B. He has had several different symptoms none of which you are discribing. My suggestion to you is go to Dr. have blood test . Don't put off if you are concerend ! Believe me you don't want this horrific disease and I will pray that everything goes well for you! Better safe than sorry! I wished we would have known yrs. ago so as we could have controlled this situation, Will hopefully will be on a liver transplant list soon! I know you don't want that for yourself, not trying to scare you! Just from a mom go get checked!

Hi Charles, My husband has had hep C for a long time. I have never read anything and he hasn't experienced any pain associated with it. I agree with Toni. Have the Dr do blood tests if you are concerned.

I just wanted to add that what has been suggested is good advice. Get a blood test for hep C. It will most likely be negative, as transmission through sex is rare. I have hep C and mild cirrhosis. I also had a huge cancerous tumor in the rt. lobe of my liver. The right lobe was excised and I am now cancer free. I never had any liver pain until about 2 days prior to the surgery, when I felt a little "pang" in my right upper quadrant every so often. That was undoubtedly caused by the tumor. Hep C itself is not associated with pain.
