gastroparesis and colonoscopy- URGENT RESPONSE

 Forgive me I'm so tired and drained I cant think straight, I have a colonoscope for the am 8:30, thing is I only did half of the halflytely,  I really tried, I have gastroparesis, so food and wespecially liquid stay in my belly, when I atempted more I vomited and grossly stopped it not to loose anymore of the laxative!!

Last time I didn't get nearly this far, my poop is almost yellow/green liquid.  I already went thry the frothy phase.

Look I'm sorry I just dont want to cancel, if its all liquid, I think they can at least get into the transverse part??

I will be put under, and I will take 2 fleet enama's in the morning, and I'll try to roll around as to get all around.

Too bad I cant stand on my head!!

I personally think the problem is in my sm intestine's but I'am hoping that they can still have a look.

Put it to you guys like this, I'm at the point where I have no control, I'm like peing from my butt w/o warning??

  Would you re=schdule?  I havn't eaten for 2 days because of the gastroparesis.  Next time I will do a prep both nites

and really feel like I'm dying!!!  Hope somebody is up.  Denise

Wow, that is a problem. It is my understanding that they can suction out a good portion if you have stuff left. Perhaps another laxative would do better if you have this problem. Maybe something with less fluid like the Fleets Phosopo Soda which doesn't require that much fluid. If they can't find anything then why not talk to them about the the camera thing where you swallow a camera and it takes pictures and sends them back along the way thru your intestines. Are you on Reglan or something to increase motility. I assume you have had a motility study.

Hi Denise

Hopefully you're in bed sleeping right now.  If you haven't already, why not call an urgent care/ER and explain the situation.  They may have a specialist on call that can listen to what you're experiencing and tell you if it's necessary to reschedule or not.  I kind of doubt that you'll have to.

Thank you, Canyonbabe and Denny!! Let me begin with its 2 p.m. just got back and Dr. said I was clean thru-out. One tiny polip, he feels it is benign, but I will call and make sure, worse scenerio, I go back in FIVE yrs if it is pre-cancerous, yeah right I'll be back next year, and if its benign
I'll go back in 10, I'll go back in 2. He spent alot of time on me and I like him I guess this is the proticol they are given to tell you to come bacK??
I guess depends on age, history....
Anyway after my first disaster w/ colonoscope, I was wide awake, and Dr. was getting mad that the cramping was really hurting, then he could only get to tranverse, that was almost 2 yrs ago, wanted me to come back in a month.

I have had soo many test want to definately due the camera for sm intestines, because that is where I think my problems lie!!
I had endo by mouth up to ampulla? They took one biopsey of ampulla, for various, but said no celiac. I believe the ampulla is the very first part of sm intestines, I'm wondering if you can have in more in the sm intestines??

Or maybe just good old fastioned IBS? Whatever that is?? Canyon I have had mobility, but , probably not the gold standard.
I swear I can still taste that crap, and I'm so very very tired.

Glad it went well. by the time you have it next time they will have something better. I had a coloscopy once with virtually no sedation and the Dr. is lucky he is still alive as I was in the worst pain imaginable and he would not stop so I know the feeling. Since then I have been out though we started my last one with less but that lasted about 30 seconds before I cried"uncle" You are lucky. As long as I have a polyp they want me back in 3 to 5. I did have one 2 years ago that would be considered pre-cancerous which is why I had to repeat in 2, this time only a benign so he said 3 to 5. If he had said 10 I probably would figure I had had my last since I am 71 and have no intentions of doing this at 81 regardless of what is there.

I don't know what an ampulla is. When they do my endo they say they can only get to beginning of small intestine which I thought was duodenum. I have duodenitis as Ihave seen pictures so know they got thru that. Anyway, relax, have a good meal but eat light for a few days.

Canyonbabe, I had just got into this at length, I was sheduled for a EUS, that starts as a regular oral endoscope. Anyway, only I facility did it up here
in the boondocks, they look behind the stomach sort of w/ an sonogram in your stomach. I stopped eating at 3 pm instead of 7pm test was to be 8 am next morn. Dr. had an emergency, didn't do it till 2 pm. He couldn't proceed. Then he reviewed my cts w/ oral contrast, and they never went far,
that is what he based it on and my symptoms. Although, I snack alot but am not skinny as I thought was the "norm"

Anyway, my miracle baby, had at 41, yeah, I'm nuts... My son could be her dad!! she's calling.

Its nice talking to you my partners mom well whole family is soo illeterate, even when they are in the hospital. Thats not nice but true

Want to ask Dr. abt that camera, probably will have to go down to NYC. What are some of sm bowel diseases?
I have a good appetite despite small meals, and just have pain like GB pain but GB was out 4 yrs ago.

WOW just read my last post??? They couldn't proceed because stomach was full. And the contrast never went that far down my
digestive tract! I should add that all this started abt 14 mths fter GB out. Funny I got pregnant right away w/o he GB? I know not supposed to be relateded. My whole "way" of living did change, and maybe or I wasn't healthy enough to deal with it.
While out on maternity leave I got soo depressed, I have always batteled w/ it, but this was a new malady!! I got scared, felt my per-
sonality was changing, and didn't know how "much" I would change. Started seeing psych. after a few sessions, he dx'd me w/ bipolar and as
my hormones evened out!!! I saw my personality really fluctuate, but never like hurtful to others in manic state, just everybody and there mother was probably looking at me!!! I have a very long family history of mental illness, including now my son who I feel is definately depressed.
Although I fear for him starting so young. I guess I did as well but always had distracters!! My daughter is soo hyper!! But want to at least
moniter another yr my psych wanted to put her on meds!! She is only 4!! I yes although I did loose most of my weight by five mths after preg,
when I stayed home (never returned, thats when all medical stuff began) I did go up to 182, was 120 for 17 yrs after my son.
I though people got skinnier after gb out not fatter? Although I 'm peri menapause w/ a psych illness that I think I'm just now believing is true!!

confused  Im new to this forum, just been dx with Gastroparesis, Have any of you heard if Prednisone can cause Gastroparesis, been on it off and on for my asthma.

I can't say that too many of us here on the IBS board are on Pred. You might want to check the Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis board. Those regulars are more apt to be on pred.

Of all the things that Prednisone causes I really don't think that it would cause gastroparesis. It is an anti-inflammatory drug and used for some bowel diseases. I am very familiar with Pred because I am very active with many forums regarding lung disease where Pred is used frequently and I have never heard of anyone having a problem in that respect. A lot of other things but not that. Here is an excellent link on gastroparesis. If will give you a better idea of what it is and how it is treated and causes.
