I tried to get a script for Reglan, but my gastro won't prescribe it =( He said it can cause irreversible side effects ... paralysis of the tongue being one of them. I am so desperate for relief from gas, bloating and nausea.

Maybe that is why my Dr. didn't prescribe it. I have had 2 of them tell me I had a motility problem with no help. I don't take Reglan and would not based on what I read. Since what I take in not in the US no point of talking to your Doctor about it as he probably will not know anything about it. I do know people that take Reglan and have had no problems and are very happy with it. Today is the first day that I had a problem in 2 weeks and it is also the first day that I had brewed coffee(decaf) This is one thing that really causes my acid problem but I thought I was doing so well I could try it. Have had indigestion all day so apparantly brewed coffee is out for the time being. I usually only have it on weekends.

OK, what did the Doctor say, Gutastrophe? Did you call and ask? I am still doing terrific. I bet you didn't call, you chicken!

No - I haven't received the pills yet.  I figured I would wait until they came and then call.  I'm wondering if they might have gotten held up in transit?

I have been taken the Reglan but only 1 or 2 every other day, when I am feeling my very worst.  I do see a very slight difference but it is having some effect.  I have noticed that, almost immediately after taking it, the trapped gas starts to "break up" and move out - either as gas or a bm.  So far, no negative side effects BUT at such a low dose, I wouldn't expect any.  The biggest problem is trying to remember to take it 30 minutes before eating.  I remember once and the rest of the time, I've just been taking one right before bed.

I'll let you know when the Motilium gets here!

It takes about 10 days. If it got held up in customs(very unsual) you would be notified and then notify inhouse and they will reship. My reorder should be here this week and none too soon. You can take the Motilium anytime up to 10 minutes I think. Today was the first day I had any indigestion and I know it was the coffee again as it is Sunday and the only day I make regular coffee(decaf) and here I sit with 75 4 cup Maxwell House Decafs that apparantly I cannot use for some reason.

Okay, I have a report.

My "experiment" has now been running for about a week.  I've taken the Reglan for the last three days, one pill each time.  Today, I did remember to take it exactly 30 minutes before the meal.  Now, I don't want to get too excited but tonight, I feel really great.  I got a "good belly-ache" immediately after the meal which was fruitful and relieving.  I don't have any heartburn or reflux, even though I had some raw onion on my burger.  And there is absolutely no bloat.

Could be my imagination, could be a coincidence.  After all, I've only been taking just the one pill.  I did notice this evening that I felt a bit shaky so I will keep my eye on that. 

Still no Motilium but I did call the bank and my account has been debited.  Hopefully it will be here this week.

If I could just figure out a way to "fix" the morning problems....it's just such a drag to be in pain and discomfort ALL DAY LONG until the pills or my guts decide it's now time to "work".

Nope, stopped all the PPI's and now take a Pepcid like yesterday when the coffee did a number on me but today I am back and fine. Walking does help but I used to get so bloated and so short of breath (emphysema) that I can't walk after I eat. The coffee also bloated me so took a pepperment, fennel, ginger pill before bed and work up fine. Had a lot of burping yesterday about an hour after the coffee. I should have realized the coffee was bothering me because Sundays were my worst day but it seems like it was this last batch of coffee I ordered. I buy it on line in the 4 cup prepak cause I am too lazy to measure it out. Maxwell House. Now what to do with it. I am not a big coffee drinker. I drink mainly water and some wine with dinner.

Gastrophobe, did you get a confirmation of shipping? I just received my package today and I ordered on the May 4 and got a confirmation the next day but didn't get a shipping confirmation this time so don't know what day it was shipped. Usually they send a confirmation of order and a shipping date email. Anyway, you can always call them as they speak New Zealand which is pretty understandable. LOL I just looked at postmark and it was shipped out the same day I ordered it. You will have to sign for it. You didnt used to but people I guess were not being honest so now you have to sign so you might ask your mailman.

"Gastrophobe" - is that my new name! tongue   Love it!  Definition: someone who is terrified of gas!

This morning when I left the house I found a tag from the post office on my front door.  Looks like they tried to deliver it at 8 AM!  Gonna sign it and tape it to the door tonight just in case they come again at that unholy hour of the morning!

They won't do that here. I have the hardest time when I write your name and have to keep referring back to it with my senior brain. I just got an email from a internet friend from Indiana who I met somewhere along the line due to breathing problems but she has severe gastro problem. Guess what? She really has great Doctors and they just told her to order the Motilium from Canada. I told her they would have to write a prescription. They brought it up to her, was from nothing I had said but I had mentioned it years ago and she forgot the name so she just emailed me to see if that was it. They put her on Reglan for now. I have always been impressed with her doctors and now I am really impressed. She lives in Terre Haute and has had tons of health problems but I have always been impressed with her Doctors compared to mine on all her problems.

Boy, you've been spot on so far about everything!  I left the dopey tag on the door yesterday, waited around ALL DAY LONG, and the PO never returned!  Gonna have to go over there today.  I don't think it's possible to convey how much I LOATHE going to the Post Office! 

I'll check back later - after I've taken "the cure"!

Frankly, I am not doing as much as I should except the Calcium and exercise and even then I am remiss. I am going to a lecture this Wed on Osteo and want to find out more about Forteo and if I could get financial help with it since it runs about $800 a month. I will not take Boniva, Actonel or anything else in that category. I, personally believe they are dangerous.I may consider Evista after I hear the lecture. What I would take at my age of 71 or if I were younger are entirely different.

hi yall I am the new kid on the block today, where do I begin,I have had IBS since 1980, I keep Depends in business , when ever I travel or have an early appointment like last thurs, I had to be at dr. at 10 am and live 1 hr away, had to get up at 2 am to do my "trottin', and trot I do, by the time I reach my destination I am a nervous wreck, scared of what I might do "on my self", I live on gaviscon, sprite and crackers, mostly lomotil, have an early appointment this week and will have to stay up all night to make a 9 am appointment. HElP, my gastro doesnt know what to do with me. we have tried it all and nothing works,if I eat while I am away I am in big trouble again. If i could just not eat.......

Bimbo, you might want to start a new link as this one may be worn out since you symptoms are more similar to what others have. I guess my one question is Why do you take Gaviscon for your symptoms. Gaviscon is more for acid problems though it is used for gas but it is certainly not the most popular med for gas. Gaviscon forms a barrier over the LES valve to cut down and the acid in the esophagous. You problems don't sound acid related. I would start a newe thread with all your symptoms and history and I think you will get more repsonse. Sorry you are having so much trouble. Tell us what tests you have had and what drugs you have used and maybe someone will have an idea.

thanks canyonbabe,I also have reflux and am scheduled for hiatal hernia surgury on June 13, I have been on Reglan for a few weeks and made the "trots" worse, I have taken every thing imaginable and all have failed, one dr told me that "I was making my self have Diarrhea by being so nervous about it, and I told him that "if he thought he was going to "mess" himself up , he would be nervous too, he agreed that he would, I have had tests colonoscopys etc for years and all that showed up was that I had"Mast cells "in my stomach, nothing would treat that but steroids, and that is a no-no for me. I have learned to handle the Ibs but its not fun and I have to 'program' my self to do what I do, I cant do anything major on the spur of the moment, if I do its not a pretty picture,Lomotil is the only thing that even half way works for me, it doesnt prevent it from happening, it just stops it after about 3 pills at once, what works best is just not eating at all, just crackers but that gets very old, thanks for getting back to me, I havent eaten today and I am slowly sinking , but I have things I have to do in town today and I will have to eat when I get home, thanks for caring.

I only order from 2 sources and that is not one of them. I have ordered from these 2 as well as most my friends for probably at leat 8 years with absolutely no problem but I don't like to give the name of off shore companies on the web. I will say only that Iwill not order from any company that sells anything considered a narcotic or like that. Xanax, Valium,etc. as those companies are expensive and come and go and are seriously breaking the law. The ones I order from do not sell anything that I could go to jail for if they found I was buying it overseas. All packages have to go thru customs. just a word of warning.

As I mentioned I can only vouch for 2 as others are just not that reliable. Some just disappear or get shut down by the feds because of shipping "controlled substances"

I am a new member and I have suffered with IBS for about 10 years.  The last year my syptoms have been minimal but have recently flared up.  I read online about motilium and ordered from the company you use.  How long does it take to notice a difference in symptoms?  I just ordered today.

My relief was immediate but then mine was more bloating, gas and acid reflux than running to the bathroom. i ate salad, fried chicken wings, onion rings, tacos and ice cream sundae last night with no ill effects. I know I would have been in misery with the drug. I was more C-IBS than anything else and it has corrected that entirely. So far I have had no side effects but I am having some insomnia and that was mentioned as a minimal side effect, low incidence but I always have sleeping problem and lately have not been very active. I am pretty sure that anyone with diahrea symptoms should not take this even though it is not a laxative. The most I have taken is 2 a day, lunch and dinner. I hope it works. I am sure it won't for everyone.

I also have C-IBS and suffer from bloating, gas and acid reflux. I had been using zelnorm and then they took it off the market. I'm so excited to try this medicine and I will let you know how it works. Do you know if it has helped others?

This is works like Reglan but with less side effects. Zelnorm was a disaster for me, I couldn't get out of bed all day I was so dizzy with only a half dose and then was really cramped up. They may accomplish the same thing in the end but this is not designed for people with constipation particularly though it certainly helped me. It is designed for people that hold food in the stomach too long which then causes bloating, nausea and more acid so I don't know how it will work for you but it has had no side effects for me except for possibly the insomnia and that is just a guess.

Have you tried the Motilium yet?  I ordered mine a week ago and can't wait to try it.
