Hello, my name is Jake and I've been so sick for 2 months now. I've been getting countless blood work, I had a cat scan, and I just got a colonoscopy and endoscopy yesterday. They said that they found nothing. Thier wondering if i just have IBS but it doesent feel like that. I have a girlfriend who lives with IBD, chrones, and she thinks i have colitis, but I don't know, also my GI doctor didnt check my small intesting when he scoped me. The doctor talked to my mom after I got scoped and told her that they found nothing, and that I'll know about the biopsoy results around wed. or thursday. I'm just so frustrated and sick of the pain I'm feeling.

Here are my symptoms. I have INTENSE pain in my lower left abdomin, i get neasuas alot, i have diharea and i once had blood in my stool. I've been very week, and in the past 2 months ive lost around 17 or 18 pounds. Which I was always already under weight, I'm 16 and im 5' 8" yet right now i weight 115 lb. Its just really frustrating because I've had all these tests done and I still dont know whats wrong with me. Whats more frustrating is the waiting, I dont have a follow up appointment after my scoping with my GI doctor till the end of October. I'm just so sick of this and I want something done about it. Can anyone give me some advice as to how to deal with the waiting/pain?

I just remembered to add that I also get severe back pain whenever i get my abdomin pain.

I believe they can do a barium imaging of the small intestine.Talk to your Doctor about that. They can't get into the small intestines with a colonoscopy or an endo. the other suggestion would be the camera pill.

Hi, have they checked your kidneys? I'd assume so, but on the off chance maybe you have a kidney stone or infection? 2 Months is a long time though, so going to guess that it's something else.

Since they don't know (for sure) what's wrong, and you aren't getting better, you have to keep pushing and get more tests done. You have to judge if you can wait until the next appointment or not, if you can't function then call back, ask them if there are other tests they can have done before the next followup.  Sometimes an imaging test may not show something if the symptoms are absent during the test.  Othertimes it may just be missed so they may need to repeat. 

I know a lot of times they schedule the follow-ups out a ways because they hope things will clear up or at least improve or change before then.  This way they can use that information along with the test results to make a diagnosis.  Either way start keeping a log of the foods you eat and your symptoms throughout the day. It may take a while to learn anything but if/when you do it can be very useful.

I don't have the same symtpoms but I do use DGL Licorice tablets (as directed) for nausea with good results.

I've been having stomach problems lately, too.  Have lost about 25 pounds, and I hurt in the middle of my abdomen right up under my sternum, more on the left side than the right.  It feels like my food does not digest, yet it hurts pretty much allll the time.  Almost like a spasm.  Sometimes it worse than others.  I take ACIPHEX (they told me it was acid reflux).  I had an EGD, CT of plevis and abdomen which was negative.  Only thing that showed on the EGD was h-pylori.  Sometimes the pain goes around to my back and my gallbladder's been gone for 8 years now!  It is really getting aggravating because it is a constant, aggravating pain.  I'm able to work but some days it's just unbearable.  I'm told the colonoscopy is next.  YUCK!  I at one time thougth well, maybe it's gas or just that I'm so irregular maybe it's stool!  I know that is awful sounding, but I am just soooo tired of feeling like this!

thanks eihcet for the ideas and what now, ill have to start looking at myself and seeing if i can deal to wait that long.

Shopnmom, I'm sorry to hear that pretty much the same thing is happening but youve lost a LOT of weight it sounds like. I'm no expert, but ive had a girlfriend with chrons (actually the CCFA chapter youth ambasseder for PA/Deleware) and it almost sounds like you might have IBD? iunno just a thought. and trust me, colonoscopys arent that bad. I thought they would be. but the worst part is prepearing for it the day before. after that its just simple!

LoveThyBass, hey do you mind telling me more about this IBD?  What is it and what are your g/f's sx?  I'm just learning all the abbreviations (haha) and am not sure of what that might be.  Tell me what I need to do in order to have this checked out.  Thanks soooo much!

Shop, IBD is Irritable Bowel Disease. now dont take it from me kus im not expert and i dont have it myself, but before my GF started getting treatment, she lost a significant amount of weight and was just sick all the time, she was very skinny and was always really weak.

Now, then as for myself, I just thought i would say, I had to go to the ER today kus i couldnt take the pain, and the ER doctor gave me Benylt (sp?) sorry thats horribly spelled but yea he has me on that, and my doctor told me that I'm mostly likely going to be diagnoes with lymes disease because my lyms test is up. so yea. but that doesent explain my stomach, it only explains my joint pains. also i got the biopsy tests back and they showed up normal. so yea.

Sorry to jump in here guys, but IBD is actually Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are a type of IBD. It is not in any way affiliated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease is a chronic disease that results in visible inflammation in the intestines. IBS does not cause inflammation. Very important distinction between the two.
