can you help me am having endoscopy on Thursday

i am have endoscopy on Thur's and tomorrow am taken the the picolax to clear blow out i have at high fiber to day for me constipation but now am worried cos it might not work now i no i have to have low fiber tomorrow and no foods after 3pm but was i right to eat normal today am scared it wont work

Hi Jamie lee,
Are you having and EGD or colonoscopy? When you wrote 'endoscopy', I assumed you were having an EGD... But I haven't heard of anyone taking a laxative for a regular stomach endoscopy. When I had my EGD I was able to eat normally all the way up until 10 hours prior, then I wasn't allowed to have any food or water.

its a tube up my bum i have to take a laxitive to be clear for them  to see my insides

am scared

It's a colonoscopy. It's usually pretty easy. You probably won't remember a thing from the procedure.

The prep can be a little rough. I'm hypoglycemic and have an especially rough time during the liquid diet part. Don't worry about what you ate today, the laxative should clear you out, it's very powerful.

Hi Jamie Lee, don't worry if you don't empty out a lot. I did not empty out a lot before mine and did not have any problems. Are you having to do an enema? Enemas might not be fun but they are very effective at getting things moving for me. You should be asleep for the procedure ( I was ) and wont feel anything. It's not a hard procedure to go through.

Don't worry if you dont get everything out cause they can suck it out if necessary and you shouldn't feel anything. Just get some baby wipes for your butt and stay close to the john.
