Two celebrities have recently been discussing IBS.  Tyra Banks has admitted publicly that she has it and Linda Carter has been speaking on behalf of her mom who has suffered for 20 years with IBS.  Here is a story from 2003 about Ms. Carter:

Its nice, IBS was never talked about for so long but in the last few years, it has really been a subject talked about in numerous articles and more importantly addressed in medical conferences. Great strides have been done also that has a lot to do with public awareness. Thank you for sharing the story.

Thanks for posting Linda Carter's article. I don't feel alone, just in pain..lol...I hope everyone else is dealing with IBS the best they can. I know it isn't a laughing matter, but I have to laugh or I might cry. I am sure you all know what I mean. Thanks again..Smiles

Now all we need are some special lapel ribbons and corporate sponsored "Walks for IBS"!

I think there will be a LOT of research done on "IBS" in the next quarter-decade or so.  I think the subject has been taboo for too long and now that people are experiencing it and acknowledging it on a daily basis will do a lot for the cause.  There is WAY more information out there than is actually available to the public and I, personally, believe that there is no "typical" GI disorder and will do whatever I can to elucidate the causes and educate others as much as possible.

I have been fighting IBS for about 9 yrs.. At least, that is what my specialist and family doctor tell me (after all the tests I have had.) They don't seem to take it seriously though, they refer to it as "Annoying." Yeah, right, it is a little more than annoying. They don't have a clue!!! They say there is no medication known to correct it. I try everything food wise and otherwise, but, it seems to come on whenever it darn pleases.
