What other medications besides amitiza that are out there for chronic constipation?

Hey guys since I've come off amitiza I'm just scared that I'll start feeling constipated again for long periods of time.What other meds are out there for chronic constipation with not a lot of bad side effects like amitza? Please guys let me know if any of you are on one or heard of a good one take care guys. :-)

If you're looking for something natural, I've always heard that straight prune juice at bedtime works very well. Tastes terrible but you can chase it with another glass of juice and then brush your teeth.

Try Miralax. No taste. Mixes completely. And it works. I have been taking it for a month now, daily, and received excellent results with absolutely no side-effects. Some people complain of bloating and gas at the outset of taking it, but I really haven't had that problem. It takes 3-4 days for it to begin working, so don't get too anxious, and you may have to adjust the dosage to suit your system, but I would recommend it.

Psyllium not good but I'll check into to it again,I'm not sure what to do I'm eating the right foods hopeing I'll have more formed stools but they are still coming out to far in between and pencil shaped this sucks. :-( I called my GI office today to speak to my GI doctorto see what I could take that will help, but they never got back to me I'm so frustrated I've taken bennefiber twice but no such luck why? I hate this!!!!!

I find Benefiber no help at all, but regular psyllium - from the bulk food store- helps a lot.

Does Miralax affect the bladder at all??

There's also something called lactulose; I used to take 4 tablespoons a day along with 4 capfuls of miralax and 2 amitiza.  This worked for about 6 mos then stopped.
