IBS Studies

Have any of you been through any of the clinical studies for IBS? I go today to one in Bristol Tn called the tri-cities Medical Research center. This is the first study I've ever done. I've tried a lot of things to try to get my IBS under control I have stomach pain/cramping, bloating and go for days without a bowel movement. There are times I go for about a week and no bowel movement, and then there the times that I pass very little. I take stool softners from time to time they don't help either. I've take prescription meds to help with IBS doesn't really help either.

The clinical trial will include many test to try to find the problem or they will give me a medicine or a sugar pill I suppose. Anyone been through this??

Well I went to talk to the people at the research center, they seem to think it's probably chronic constipation and not IBS even though other doctors think I might have it. I've had a colonosopy and it was fine, it just showed I had a very long colon which takes food longer to go through. I deal with bloating, gas, and tightness in my stomach. I have pain but not like rolling on the floor pain. So I guess you have to be in sever pain for it to be considered IBS?? anyway I'm back to square one.
