I have suffered with symptoms of Fructose Malabsorption (FM) since my teens. The symptoms have become increasingly bad, over the last decade. I was finally diagnosed in November, 2009 (I'm 44).
I rely heavily on the information given in the book, "Fructose Malabsorption - The Survival Guide" by Deb and Bob Ledford. Thank goodness they wrote this book! Deb's symptoms were chronic constipation and mine include chronic diarrhea with severe cramping.
Gluten-free foods have been a little disappointing in texture. Gluten isn't my issue but wheat has fructans, which is a big problem for most people with FM. I'm looking for products or recipes that result in foods closest in texture to wheat-based products. I can only use organic cane sugar as a sweetener and really no fruits in the mix (except blueberries or dried cranberries - I do okay with those). No wheat, rye, or corn, either. I'm wondering if Wheat Gluten is fructan-free...? I can't find any info about that, online, and don't know how to find out.
