Affecting my work

Hi all I'm new on here but have read many of your posts.
I have experienced symptoms of ibs for months now and only recently attended my dr regarding them. I now have an appointment in 2 weeks time for a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. My symptoms include sickness, severe stomach cramps, and diahorrea or constipation. My stool samples also tested positive for occult bloood.
My big problem just now is my work, I was off the full week last week due to ibs. I still few terrible today and can't face going in. I work in social services so can be stressfull at times. I was just wondering does anyone else face problems with their work, having to take sick days? Up until now I have maintained a great attendance rate at work.
My ibs tends to be worse in the morning and shortly after eating, is this normal? Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

Dr has said ibs at the moment but specialist at hospital told me that ibs is what Drs refer to when they are unsure. That's why I'm having further test done I think to see if there is something or if it is ibs.

Was this a "Fecal Occult Blood Test"?

 

It does  sound like IBS but only a doctor can diagnose you.

This is pretty normal for a lot of IBSers.

This isn''t really true. IBS is a distint entity. A GI DISORDER OF FUNCTION.

 

Stress reduction techniques could help you with the symptoms and pain.

 

Its good your going for the colonoscopy.
