Rectal ulcer

I have a painful rectal ulcer, and I am on citrocel and three stool softeners every day. I have been on Canasa for two months with no improvement. Even with all the stool softeners, my bowel movements hurt like crazy, but I am having a bowel movement every day (thank goodness). But as I said, they are hard, and it hurts really bad, sometimes the ulcer bleeds. Do you guys think I should ask my doctor for Amitiza to hopefully have softer stools (less rectal pain?)?

Thanks for your reply! I have tried Miralax, and it did not make my stool any softer, and gave me bad gas. I was really disappointed.

I have had a colonoscopy where they found the ulcers, but no one has mentioned pelvic prolapse. Is there a separate test for that? What are the symptoms?

You might try posting this question on the ulcer forums or IBD forums.

I know its not a inflammatory bowel disease, but it is an inflammatory issue. Someone over there might know more about it, more so then IBS issues where there s no overt inflammation. They are dealing witrh more inflammation issues.
