My 12 year old daughter is having some serious stomach issues..last fall she started having vomiting and diarrea about
an hour to 2 after meals...this would come every couple weeks and last a day - 2 days. I took her to dr and they did blood work which showd elevated liver enzymes, then ultrasound on gallbladder (no stones), next was HIDA scan (16% function), we saw a surgeon but then i panicked and decided on 2nd opinion....next we saw pediatric gastro dr and he did upper & lower gi's and both were fine. this idiot told me not to hog all the anti-depressants for myself (cuz i take zoloft) and get her on some and take away all chocolate, caffeine, breaded food, & fat (yea right)...so we just left it alone to see how she does...it's been 5 months and we are at it again....i've found a new gastro dr i really like and he is currenty giving her meds for ibs ( but hasn't ruled out gallbladder) she has symptoms of both, he ordered new blood work to compare liver enzymes to last year. she has been on meds for a weeks and 1/2 and skipped a dose fri & sat nite....last nite, she had a very violent vomiting attack....i didn't think vomiting was an ibs symptom. i don't want to have her gallbladder removed if it's ibs, there isn't a test for ibs tho....i just don't know what to do. her pain is right above belly button, never over the gallbladder area....it's only diarrea and vomiting...never constipation...once she had severe chills with the attack and was vomiting and had diarrea at same time, she turned as red as a lobster....in my heart i feel like it is the gallbladder....but what can we do with a 12 yr old to keep her symptoms minimal without having surgery....or be sure if it isn't ibs????
