I'm going through IBS-D right now while on my period. I have IBS-D pretty much every day, though some days are better than others. I hate being on my period because it makes the IBS so much worse plus the additional pain from menstrual cramping. I've considered getting a hysterectomy because I am finished having children, however I don't know if it is an elective procedure, plus it seems pretty drastic. I'm not sure the relief from the periods would be worth the adverse side effects. The last time I was at the OBGYN they suggested I get an Ablation but again it also seems drastic and there is no guarantee it will stop your cycles. I wish I could take BCP but they make me feel funny and being close to 40 I'm afraid of the risk of strokes and heart attacks. So for now I'm just dealing with it.
On a positive note I found out that taking Iberogast really helps with my IBS-D. When I use it regularly and stay away from my trigger foods I actually have normal bowel movements though sometimes it seems more like IBS-C. I've had the IBS-D for so long, the IBS-C is almost a welcome change.
