I'm quite a bit older than you, mid-50s, so my hot flashes are hormonal as well.
What I do experience are chills and aches, I feel actually sick from a dumping episode or all out D. When stool is exiting my body at a rapid rate, I tend to feel this way and then need time to recover. Usually hot tea, chicken noodle soup, etc. make me feel better.
Figure out what makes you feel better - perhaps iced water, or 7 up, would help with the hot flashes. Remember to sip, not down. Also a wet compress (washcloth) to the face would be beneficial.
IBS can be brutal, in all its forms. While I don't actually have IBS, I have symptoms very similar to it that make me feel so ill at times. So I completely understand.
I was out of town on a brief trip last weekend. Had a dumping episode for a few hours where I was completely empty afterwards (very loose stool, that seems to come every 10 minutes or so). Once done, I was ravenous. My daughter carried out a cup of chicken noodle soup and a turkey sub from a Pot Belly restaurant. Let me tell you, I wanted to inhale that soup, it was perfect. My gut seemed to crave that type of meal. I knew going into the following day I would be feeling much better and I was right.
