hi everyone, i'm wondering if anyone's had any experience/success with elavil??

my doctor has not been able to give me any real diagnosis so we're now starting some different medications to see if my symptoms and quality of life can be improved.

This is amitriptyline right?
I started this about 4 weeks ago and my pain has massively improved. It has slowed down my bowel also so I am having less diahorrea.
It made me drowsy in the beginning but that soon wore off. I take 10mg at night.

thanks for that. my doc did tell me to take it at night because it would knock me out. has it caused you to gain weight at all?

No, I haven't gained any weight.
What dosage have you been put on?
If you get a lot of pain with IBS, this may help you as there have been studies that it really does reduce abdominal pain.
Hope it helps. It did take about 4 weeks for it to kick in with me so give it time.

hi tori, i'm going to start 50 mg nightly. i guess i will be sleeping realllly well :)
mostly hoping it takes away or reduces my D.

does anyone else have any experience with elavil?

I think it will help to reduce you D. Just give it time to kick in. It took about 4 weeks for me to notice any difference.
Good Luck with it. The drowsiness wears off after a couple of weeks.
