Pain after Endoscopy

I had an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy on Wed. and when I swallow I can feel a pain as if that was where the instrument was.  I am also getting random quick little  pains which feels like its from my esophagus.  In the middle of my chest.  Is this normal? Its not terrible pain, just quick little kinda of shocking pains.  Its just different. 

Of course I Googled info and now I am freaking out and afraid I have a perforation or something wrong:-(  Appearantly you can have serious complications 1-4 weeks AFTER the procedure!

Does anyone have any advice or words of wisdom to give here? I would really appreciate someone putting my mind at ease:-)

Don't take my "words of wisdom" the wrong way please. It seems you have a bit of health anxiety. If googling every symptom you have causes you to freak out, stop looking them up.

As for the things you are feeling after your scopes. - The reason they did an upper endoscopy was to help find a diagnosis for an upper intestinal tract prtoblem. They said you had GERD, correct? It is more likely that the middle chest pains are related to your GERD. Are you taking the medication they prescribed everyday?

@ OP - I had the EXACT same thing as well, and freaked out... mind you it was only 3 days after the procedure was done and I started freaking out because I couldn't swallow the pain was kind of sharp... kind of like you described.... I wouldn't worry about it too much, it eventually goes away... I hated that feeling, but just wait it out, I don't think there is a cause for concern.

Oh and @ Forum Moderator...yes I agree! I do need to stop looking everything up! I just want to be informed of what could be going on with me...however, I tend to think the worse instead of just taking the information for what it is, which is a posibility only.

I'm new here. I just had the endoscopy test and having similar symptoms as you guys. Pain in oesophagus or chest and really worrying. Sometimes i think its all gone but suddenly i feel it again. Its been 3 days now and i'm still having it. I have been to the A&E and chest X-ray done says things are ok. Please guys what happened with you? have your symptoms gone with time? any information you can pass to me is extremely valuable as i'm freaking out. Thanks

Oh, I look up stuff too and understand the anxiety. I will say I had an endoscopy a couple of years ago with biopsies and dilation and had no problems. Due to ongoing and worsening problems, went to a new doctor who did an endoscopy and biopsies. Was a little sore but that night had discomfort in my chest, under the breast bone. Called the doctor and he said to be on the safe side go to the zeal and get checked. Just what I wanted to do, go to the nightmare of the ER. Anyway, they checked me out, took an X-ray, had me swallow some stuff and checked my heart and told me it was probably from the procedure and biopsies. By the next evening, I felt fine.

I had an endoscopy and it was very painful to swallow food...even soft foods and liquids for 4 days! I lost a couple of pounds because of it,but by day 5 I felt better and could eat/drink without it being painful.
