Gas-X Cause Diarhea?

I have had IBS since I was a teenager - I'm now grandma. That's a lot of years! Recently, I went on a weekend vacation. I was afraid I would have IBS difficulties, so I took gas-x twice each day. Then on the Monday I returned, I had explosive diarhea. I did not make it to the bathroom. The diarhea was greenish in color and I immediately thought of the little green gas-x pills I had been taking. Has anybody experienced this as an after-effect of taking Gas-X? This has never happened to me before, and now I am afraid to go out anywhere just in case it happens again. Needless to say, i will not take gas-x anymore. Do you think it was the Gas-x or is this yet another IBS difficulty I will have to deal with? confused

I've taken plenty of gas x and have never had any problems. Maybe you just ate something over the weekend that caught up with you.

Thanks for your reply. I have taken Gas-x before without problem. But over the weekend I was away, I ate very very little cuz I was afraid of having an episode. Perhaps not eating when you have IBS can be as "tragic" as eating the wrong things? I'm so afraid it will happen again without warning when I am out.

Hi backside. I also recently went on "vacation" and it was one of the most stressful times I have had in a while. I did the same as you and chose not to eat as much as I would normally. I believe it made things worse and made my anxiety kick in which didnt help things. But to answer your question about the Gas-X, I have on occasion had similar issues, but after thinking back the last time it always seemed to follow periods of not really eating or eating well. The other one that gets me is Imodium. That seems to do more harm then good for me.
