Have anyone tried Bacteriotherapy for IBS?!

Hello fellow Ibs:ers !

So well i've been having IBS issues for a very very long time now, pretty much most of my adult life.
Quite sick and tierd of it by now and im woundering if theres anyone out there thats tried Bacteriotherapy/ Fecal transplant or whatever you want to call it!

I've read quite abit of it and it sounds like something that could acctuly work, i bet it beats all the fiber and what not most of the doctors have told me to try!

What worries me is that i havent found anyone with IBS that have tried it !

Anyways i would realy like to know if anyone have tried it and if it worked for you!
Only IBS ppl, i have heard good resaults for others ! Like people with Ulcerative Colitis.

I am still looking/searching too. Have heard of this but don't know anyone who has had it. Good luck and I really hope you find relief.

I've never really heard of it. It sounds like a waste of money though unless your IBS is REALLY bad.
I've had IBS since I was 12, though it is annoying and in most cases rather painful, there's less discomfort when you stay on meds. It's something I can live with and manage my life around. Personally, I'd rather save money and live with a bit of pain.

I'm interested in it. I've actually set up a phone consultation with Professor Borody, and I'm having it at the end of July. I live in the U.S., so it would be expensive to fly over there and have it done.

I have a problem with yeast overgrowth, and I'm hoping the good bacteria would help that. I have to take Nystatin powder twice daily. I was on a ton of antibiotics when I was young, and I believe that has lead to my IBS. I have tried probiotics, but they always make me sick, even in small doses or if I'm on them for a bit.

I did have an IGG test done, but it came with allergies to all the main foods like soy, gluten, dairy, and eggs. The naturopath also wanted me to stay off any foods with sugar. I went to an allergist who told me the test wasn't reliable. My doctors also advised me against it. I haven't followed the diet because the sheer volume of foods needing to be eliminated for the rest of my life (foods I really enjoy) is overwhelming, and I lost 2 pounds in less than a week on it. I'm already very underweight as it is - 20 lbs. The allergist wants me to have some more reliable tests done, a little different from the standard tests. I've unfortunately been unable to be off anthistamines for nausea long enough to get the tests. I have to be off it five days, and three is the best I can do.

I've read that leaky gut caused by bad bacteria and yeast can lead to food allergies and intolerances, and I truly believe that's what it is. Bad bacteria and yeast also would explain my strong reaction to things like milk and ice cream. I've also read in studies that bacteria in the gut can cause anxiety and depression, and I wonder if that is what has caused mine. I sent an email months back detaling this to Professor Borody's clinic. The nurse shared my info with him, and he seemed to think he could help, but they weren't seeing IBS patients at the time.

I waited a few months and emailed back. It took me probably over a month to get an appointment set up over the phone. I'm excited for myself and my parents to talke to him. I'm hoping this could possibly be at least part of the answer, if not all for my 15 years of suffering with this horrible condition.

My Dad is very opposed to this, and he has called the family doctors and gastroenterologist who of course are predictably against it. Keep in mind, though, that these are the same people who have been unable to help me and say that this is a lifelong condition. They also don't believe in yeast, and I know for a fact that has been a big factor. My doctor seems disgusted by my idea, and so I printed out a bunch of studies and articles on fecal transplant and IBS. I haven't heard back from her yet, so I don't what she thinks of my studies.

Honestly, I'll sepnd the rest of my life trying to find a cure for this. If it works, nothing would make me happier, and I'd go back to the doctors who have been unable to help me and tell them it works.

A lot of people may not be able to understand, and I know there was a time I would not have understood either, back before my IBS and IBS anxiety took over my life.  However, it gets to the point that the daily suffering grates on you, and I can't continue to live that way.  My understanding from what I've read from Borody is there is at least a 50% chance of a complete cure.  I'll talk to him and ask the success rates, though.  To me, those odds are very good.  I mean, who wouldn't buy a lottery ticket if you have 1 in 2 chance of winning?

People who don't have IBS simply don't understand what it's like, including most doctors.

I would love to see some of those studies and articles on fecal transplant and IBS! I realy couldent find that many including IBS i found a few but they weren't looking all that serious :L!
