Gas-queen checking in! I just flew across the country and I have to tell you it was the single most miserable experience I've had. The flight to my destination (the red eye) was practically powered by the gas I passed. The gas literally kept me from sleeping. I was saved only by the fact that my son was seated beside me and I had an aisle seat which I specifically requested so I wouldn't be "heard". But the flight home was horrific as I was cramped between a large woman and surrounded by young, handsome military men. I made so many trips to the bathroom just to pass wind that I'm sure they all thought I was some kind of freak.
Here is what I know about my gas:
-I have two kinds: trapped or passing
-Passing gas usually happens in the morning, after meals, and in the evening.
-Trapped gas is excrutiating and usually has me praying it will start passing.
-It's at it's worst when I am not having regular bm's.
-Sitting makes it worse (in the car, at a desk, on a plane, in Church, at the movies)
-Fiber creates unbelievable turbulence in the gut.
I am always amazed at people who don't pass gas. How is that even possible???? What is that like????
I empathize with you totally! And experience many of the symptoms you list. But I also notice almost everyday at 5/6pm, I start getting gassy immediately- it doesn't matter what I ate earlier in the day, even if I'm regular and had a BM that day- it's like my body Knows to make my social life miserable- LOL.
If I haven't eaten dinner yet I get bloated, my stomach starts churning and it's toot, toot, toot. (It's the worst if I'm in a social situation and dinner is delayed, my stomach blows up)
Sometimes it feels better if I'm home, moving around, cooking. (Or maybe I just don't notice it as much?) I eat dinner, then 1/2-1hr later, the gas comes back. (since my system is probably starting to work digesting) I'm amazed at what my petite skinny female body can produce in loud, stinky, endless farts.
Yes, and I don't know what to do anymore- sitting through TV, movies, lectures- it's hard. even sitting in bars, car ride home. Then laying in bed all bloated and farty. Omg! I DO wake up in the morning completely normal, flat stomach, gassless, go figure.
The only time my digestion was really good was one summer when I joined a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), I ate seasonal fresh vegetables all Summer and was very regular. Gas-X doesn't seem to work for me that much anymore these days. I try to eat yogurt often and take probiotics here and there, cook a lot of my meals. Maybe I need a more regimented plan.
