I don't know if this is IBS related (as it hasn't acted up in years) but wasn't sure where else to post this.
Sorry to be so graphic. But I was put on a NO gluten diet a couple months ago. I don't have much problem w/gluten but my Naturopath wanted to try it...I had come to him re: a severe shaking attack I had in Jan. which lasted an hour, plus I have minor shaking everyday now and he was trying different things to see if it could help.
Anyway, since the no gluten (which I mostly followed--I did not avoid cross-contamination), which meant I changed all my bread to Udi's brand, which is mostly brown rice flour and tapioca flour, I have had minor tummy issues (lower stomach). After eating a no gluten pizza (brown rice flour), it got a bit worse.
I was on the diet for about 2 months; last weekend, I had pain and diarrhea so I went on a bland diet, and added some gluten (bananas, dried blueberries, chicken noodle soup, italian bread, applesauce). I went to the doc about the gluten thing and he ordered 8 blood tests, which I'm doing Mon. I didn't mention that I hadn't "gone" (had a bowel movement) for 5 days however.
The day after my appt, I still hadn't gone, and it was worrying me. Still had pains. I called the doc and they recommended Dulcolax. I don't like taking harsh chemicals, or laxatives period, so I didn't get it.
I finally went, and there were white spots--not pin hole spots, like a parasite, but larger ones. What could this be? Could it be from being 'backed up' for so long? The only white roundish thing I ate was almonds.
Again, sorry to be graphic. But this is worrying me. I had an upper GI, lower GI, colonoscopy in 1999 and 1990 and both were ok except they said I had IBS (meaning they didn't know what was wrong); they detected a small reaction to gluten, but I usually can eat it w/no big problems. And a recent blood test indicated no allergy to wheat. And again, before the going on No gluten diet, my stomach was fine.
