hi,sorry for long reply but just want to help, sorry to hear you ve been diagnosed with ibs, having being told I have ibs for 2 years I changed my diet, stopped smoking, stopped drinking, exercised, tried aloe vera, probiotics, wheat free (must have spent a fortune!) eliminated stress etc I found very little helped, small words of advice for anyone suffering from ibs.....get a second, third, fourth opinion, having 2 years of stomach problems which do affect your life, with tiredness, bloating, sickness, pains I wasn't convinced that it was down to the mystical diagnosis of ibs, I changed doctor 3 times, researched the stomach and went to the docs to TELL them what test I wanted, good job I did. I reserarched a HIDA scan which looks at your gallbladder function (ultrasound is a poor scan as it looks for sizes and stones but please bear in mind small stones cant be seen, its no good looking at an organ, its the function of the organs that count) had my scan and surprise surprise I have a slow emptying gallbladder which isn't projecting enough bile which isn't breaking up my food hence bloated belly and food sitting in my colon causing pain and constipation, course my bloods are gonna be ok, course my food intolorence is gonna be ok, course my ultrasound is gonna be ok because THEY are ok!!! guess what Im changing docs yet again because they should have put me forward for test and not look at me in a "heres that bloke who I don't know whats wrong with him",what iv learnt is its ok for a doc to say ibs, he doesn't have to live with it everyday and to be honest it isn't ibs as in my case, and isn't most of the time, have every test imaginable as we only have 1 life and who wants to go through it with terrible stomach pain, ps another bit of advice which im quite strong about, please please please try and stay away from ppi,s, h2 blockers, they are pure evil, think about it? you've been told you've got ibs c (constipation)....no wonder! cos these tablets are not letting your stomach produce any acid to break food down!!!hence food sits in your stomach in lumps hence constipation and hence bloated!! the medical profession needs to start listening to patients who pay into the system and not sit there diagnosing ibs! google must be every docs nightmare. get tooled up peoples, arm yourself with knowledge and question your docs cos trust me they wont be going home with stomach pain day in day out and neither should you, good luck
