Hard and soft stool

Hi. I'm so sorry to be a pest. I know that I am because my posts usually go unanswered. Understandable based on the craziness I inquire about. So here's another strange symptom. Did anyone ever have soft and hard stools in the same day? Soft first then hard. Or maybe the other way around. I suffer from ibs-a. I read somewhere on this site that sometimes the soft stool gets past the hard stool in the colon but that eventually the hard stuff works it's way out. Sounds odd but possible. I guess with ibs I need to learn to think out of the norm.

Yes it is possible to have both soft and hard stool in one day. It is also possible to have diarrhea when one is constipated. The liquid goes around the rock hard and dry stool.

I have that happen sometimes, too. I'm generally IBS-D, but every few weeks will have very hard stools followed by very loose or vice versa.
