Mucus in stool

I have mucus in my stool. Each stool I have is either covered in white mucus or there are pus pockets hanging on the stool. My Dr said mucus in the stool was normal, but I took pictures and showed them to a Dr when I was in the hospital and the Dr that saw the picture said that excessive amount of mucus was not normal.

And what did the doctor in the hospital suggest you do? I hope he said to see a gastroenterologist.

I have been to Mayo the past year and they could not give me a diagnosis. I have 5 or 6 bowel movements a day. Cramping and when I eat my stomach always hurts afterward. Then I wish I had not eaten.

I forgot to mention when I was in the hospital I had been having nonstop diarrhea for three days. The hospital was trying to cure the diarrhea. They said I had a stomach virus. I have been told by one GI Dr that I had UC then after a Colonoscopy they said they thought it was Crohns then after getting the biopsies back they said it was inconclusive . I have been dealing with going to the bathroom 5 to 6 times a day, cramping, sometimes blood and just gobs and gobs of mucus on the stool. I am so frustrated. I had a abscess with a fistula two years ago. Please someone, give me some answers. Why is this so hard to diagnose.

Okay, get yourself to a back to the GI. If you have had a fistula and these other symptoms, you need to have another scope. This time it might be more conclusive and you can get treatment.

I had this almost same problem last year. i ended up being positive for c difficile. hope you find out soon! as that will make you very ill!
