I mean this sincerely - I am glad to see there are lost of people out there with the same problem. I have IBS but not the diagnosis- anyway "idiopathic constipation" - since about 2004. I use Miralax 3x a week, psyllium 3x a day, 1 tsp of Cod Liver Oil every other day, and every day before breakfast I drink 1/2 (fresh) lemon in warm 2 cups ORGANIC (very important - not kosher- get it from health food store)sea salt and a tiny bit of cayenne pepper. The lemon/sea salt thing is really helpful.
I have small bowel movements daily, but clearly not "normal" about every 10 days I will take 25 cc of Cod liver oil (with lots of water) and then within 12 hours have to plan some time for eh bathroom. I sparingly use MOM. Cod liver oil is organic and very powerful. It is sometimes found in the pediatric medicine aisle.
Most important, I have totally changed my diet to lots of fiber, less sugar, less wheat and meat. And almost no dairy, and I miss yogurt a lot. Plus I use lactose free milk in my coffee
I was absolutely miserable with constipation. This is why I have made digestion so important in my life. Amitiza - took it for 2 years and it helped but tried to quit. I'm afraid to quit. Dr tried a new drug, LInzess, which works but with insurance changes I cannot afford it, so went back to Amitiza, cut back to once a day. I sense there will come a time when the meds will be too expensive.
My question is have you tried Aloe Vera juice? I have been taking about 20 cc 3x a day and I feel soothed.
