I have been very ill for over two year.I lost 45 pounds, had extreme gas pain that never left, nausea, skin changes, and began to lose my hair.My dr was no help and sent me to the er which they did not know what to do since they had never heard of SIBO.Sad,the medical profession treats you,but never tells you how to keep from getting sick again or how to heal.I had to google SIBO and learn how to help myself.I started drinking kefir which worked within days to help my symptoms. How sad,we need to suffer like this..

Kefir has been like a miracle to me,I do not go anywhere without it.I am angry that I got so sick because the drs would not listen to me and kept passing it off as IBS and said I needed more fiber.I would cry from the pain and sometimes end up on the bathroom floor not remembering how I got there.Very sad...

Hi Marie, what is Kefir and what do you take it for, diarrhea? I am interested in finding something to help me in this area.
Thanks , Annie

Kefir is like a liquid smoothie sold in most grocery stores and comes in different flavors. It has 10 live cultures in it which are essential to get your body back to normal.I have been suffering so long I was desperate and googled SIBO and saw a lot of people mentioned kefir.I went looking for it and when I started to drink it daily a lot of my symptoms started to relieve quiet a bit.I had severe constipation with the SIBO and my mouth was sore,I had skin changes, and was losing my hair, along with mental fogginess.I cant afford to be sick,I go to college full-time even though I am 51.I need my life back.

I think it has been helping me all over.I have been suffering a long time and the kefir helps to regulate the override of bacteria in the small intestine from SIBO.I had constant pain and nausea which are relieved from the kefir.Plus,I had mental concentration problems which seem to be better now.The kefir works at regulating your body again and I have modified my diet a lot.Low starch, high protein,no sugar, not so hard to follow since my appetite is not very good like it once was.But the constant feeling of being hungry and not being able to eat are gone.Hope this helps you Annie, try some kefir today,it really works, but I think it is a little expensive, about 3.59 for a 32 ounce bottle, but priceless to my health,I was on the floor with the pain,so I was willing to try anything.

I was diagnosed with SIBO Aug 2013, since then have had 5-14 day rounds of antibiotic. My dr told me SIBO is a new diagnosed, and they don't know much about it. I started the SCD diet and do see some improvement. I have always been thin, keep losing weight. I need help.

It's been years since my treatment, but perhaps you've not had the right antibiotics. The horribly expensive Xifaxan and a second antibiotic simultaneously cleared mine up with a single course. I was told to eat lots of different pickled and cultured foods like sauerkraut, kefir, and yogurt, and to take a probiotic tablet daily. Good luck to you.

since you have been on so many antibiotics ,,,,have you tried caprylic acid its cheap kills yeast and some bad bacteria.... many antibiotics also boost your internal yeast many of the foods you remove in SCD are sugars and starches ....which feed yeast and or some bad bacteria.. Caprylic acid takes out yeast... something your GI doesnt look at.. read up on it.. If you get a BAd head ache , or rashes.... then count on it being yeast..
