This would be TMI in any other forum but I'm assuming it's OK -- even necessary -- here. :)
I've had IBS symptoms for years now, but have lately noticed that I'm eating food, and only a few hours later it's coming out the other end, often as diarrhea. My diarrhea is extra bad right now because of side effects from a pill I took, but this isn't atypical for me.
Had carrots for lunch at 1:00 today. They departed my system starting around 4:00. Same thing happens with salad.
I've read that the digestion process should take 24-72 hours, so I'm wondering what's wrong with me and whether I should be concerned about not getting proper nutrients.
This is something I mentioned to the nurse practitioner I saw the other day and she didn't seem concerned -- seemed to think it was part of the symptoms that have been diagnosed as anxiety. I know anxiety and IBS can be related.
But three hours -- really?
I've tried gluten free and have tested negative for Celiac. Had an acute episode of colitis but other colonoscopies haven't revealed anything unusual.
Anybody else here pass stuff as rapidly as that? Should I bring it up more forcefully with my medical provider?
