It's been 2 years since I last visited this forum with similar symptoms.
I am a 32 year old male and having constipation for a month now (sluggish BM's), lots of belching (stomach gets full of gas), one case of bright red blood after a BM, somewhat ribbon-like stools and no pain.
Last time I visited, I had similar symptoms as I posted here -
www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=17&m=2511403&g=2511826#m2511826But, things are lasting a little longer than last time. So, I visited a GI doctor who put me on a slow cleanse. I called him the other day after 2 weeks and told him it's not working. Now he wants to do a colonoscopy on me to see what's happening under the hood.
My question to the community is: outside of my one-time occurance of rectal bleeding, which my doctor ruled out, is having constipation with lots of gas for a full month common with IBS-C?
It would really put my mind at ease before my colonoscopy because all the info and people I've talked too say that IBS flares up for short periods. Then when I start to fear colon cancer, everyone seems to have consistent blood in their stools where my one case came after I used the bathroom, was very fresh (bright red) and never recurred the other many times I did go back to the bathroom.
As for my diet, like 2 years ago, nothing has changed. I'm still super skinny, drinking lots of soda, downing lots of sugar, eating whatever I like because I never gain weight and never drinking water. Constipation for people like me is a given. But, I have been drinking lots of water, taking probiotics, upping my fiber and trying to do a little more exercise as the doctor ordered for the past month. Still no change.
Any insight would be much appreciated.
