Ibs with fmt treatment time

Hi I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anyone has any fecal transplant (fmt) experience.

I'll keep it brief, i have been struggling with many symptoms for 2 years now. Fatigue, tendonities, back/ joint pain, constant burning stomach pain, constipation, bloating the list goes on. Anyway i've done 13 fmt infusions over the pasted 3 weeks and am not feeling any relief in my symptoms at all. I'm wondering if anyone else who has performed fmt and has any tips of what to eat after the infusions or how long it takes to start noticing a difference in symptoms.

Thats like mine i believe it was brought on by food poisoning but has taken a 4 or so years to get to this stage. Do you get joint pain as this is a major symptom of mine and was the first symptom i got.
I do hope fmt works for you and believe that persistence is the key. I have done 13 infusions so far and am going to do one a week for the next 2 or so weeks.

Oh right thats good to hear that it's cleared up. How did you mange to get rid of the back pain? I get shoulder blade pain and the worse pain is forearm tendonities pain. Yeah i think just need to keep at it with a healthy low irritant diet and positive thinking.

Oh even after the ft pills your feeling so full. I mean i see the food you're eating and i'd do anything to eat that but if i do i know i'd feel so full and bloated it's unreal.


Yeah i didn't do it that way because i hadn't read of anyone doing it that way so had no idea of the success rate.

I've done an FMT for my IBS. One treatment. It worked. They are working for IBS. In fact just today I was reading a comment by Glen Taylor, one of prominent researchers doing FMTs, and he stated that he expects that one day soon FMTs will be the standard first line treatment for IBS. He's done over 600 FMTs so far, and is opening up a new clinic closer to the US soon.

Some important things to remember; most of these good, helpful bacteria we are trying to transplant are anaerobic. So, if one uses the (old)blender method of homogenizing the sample, you automatically kill 90% of the bacteria. It's a huge mistake.

The top researchers in the world are now preparing their samples anaerobically. All we can do, is do the best we can, to avoid exposure to air.

Recent research is finding that several( 5 to 10) infusions are necessary for success with IBS. With greater success associated with more infusions.

Dr. Thomas Borody uses an antibiotic prior to the clean-out, and the infusion. The idea is to knock down the bad bacteria before the transplant, in the aim of establishing a clean, empty large intestine ready for the new bacteria.

I'd like to encourage everyone on the IBS forums to learn what the human microbiome is, (if they haven't already). It helps to give a good understanding of why a microbiome transplant re-establishes this ecosystem in our gut.

Probiotics, which are turning into a billion dollar industry, only seem to give a temporary relief, at best. I tried different probiotics and only found a very limited help. I've read many comments of patients trying a multitude of probiotics, with no remissions or reversal of their IBS. Then, one day I read, "probiotics don't attach to the intestinal wall". It pretty much confirmed why these probiotics weren't solving any problems , for good. Plus there is the fact that we have many thousands of species of bacteria in our gut. Taking a few strains and expecting relief, and replacement of missing species is not highly probable, even if they could attach. It's something about the manufacturing process.
