I have read and heard of many cases of IBS being related to it caused by h pylori and SIBO.
I have h pylori and SIBO. Thought I was just lactose intolerant for almost 4 years. I kept losing weight and had pain and diarrhea with other foods too. Pain was worse than labor! Finally went to a GI specialist who knows his stuff! He tested be for both and I had both.
Some people are genetically predisposed to h pylori being able to infiltrate the stomach lining. Then it overgrows into the small intestine. I'm on 2nd course of antibiotics. Quadruple therapy it's called. Tetracycline, flagyl, protonix and pepto bismol tabs all twice a day. Very hopeful!
2 simple breath tests is all it takes to know if you have h pylori and SIBO.

H pylori, alledgely causes peptic ulcers and leads to stomach cancers.
SIBO, is when you have certain groups of bacteria in your gut proliferating out of control, usually due to anti-biotic therapies.

My daughter was treated for SIBO with flagyl twice. It was very helpful. Her symptoms were gas, belching, fullness, indigestion, nausea, and more. She felt horrible and went through plenty of tests. We were told that the overgrowth was yeast.
