Sharp pains - is this normal?

I have sharp pains in my colon, especially when needing to have a BM But sometimes I get them even afterwards and wonder if this is something normal with IBS?

Yes, it can be. If it continues, you should see you doctor just in case it's something different.

I have exactly what you are describing. Pain before and after a BM. I have a lot of constipation and take Miralax almost daily. I also have gastritis which only confuses things more. Be careful... mine started when I had a bowel blockage and had emergency surgery. Don't overlook those pains.

I agree pay attention to these pains I had them for one year. Then I ended up in the emergency room with severe pain. Resulting in a colon resection after bowel leaking into my body. I could have died so please get some help asap. I was told if I had sought help earlier it could have been as simple as a regimen of antibiotics. I was told this was IBS too.

I have had gas pains and problems for a month and sharp pains in my pelvic area. IT IS IBS ... went and had an cat scan today and everything is ok. my last colonoscopy was very good.

don't know why I am having this IBS flareup. it is IBS with constipation.

very difficult to deal with and I have had it for around 20 years. zelnorm helped but they took it off the market. tried linzess and it was not helpful.
