i still dont know if i have ibs or not , have still not had ultrasound , but someday i eat very little , if i have a sandwhich for my dinner which i do a few days a wekk i just get a pack of sandwhiche from the super market i eat one half of my sandwhich , and dont always finish it and that is it till i get in at 4.00pm , but some days i dont get in till 8.00pm and dont eat till i get in , but i dont feel hunrgy

Hi lilamy,
It is important for everyone, not just IBSers, to keep some food in their stomach. It is good to eat several small meals a day, as opposed to 2 or 3 gigantic feasts. Also, it's not good to eat before bed (I learned that the hard way). "They" say to eat at LEAST 3-4 hours before bed. When you're awake it helps your body digest properly. For me it helped a lot with heartburn and waking up with D.
Do you plan on seeing a doc soon for a diagnosis?

thanks 7 lil , i am still waiting for my ultrasound appotinemnt they STILL havent sent it to me , my mam is going to ring up again and see what is happeneing cos they lost my letter and were sending a new one to the hospital

i often snack through the day , but when  feel hungry i start to eat and after a couple of mouth fuls i am full , it is not as bad as it was tho , a few months ago i was going a full day without eating and lost quite a bit of weight , but still have dodgy eating habit , i have colofac mc which i am supposed to take 20 mins b4 i eat but i always forget i am rubbish at remebering to take them

Lilamy, are you having an abdominal ultrasound? For what... do they suspect a gallbladder problem?
It is good to snack a lot. I too get full easily. I finally learned to ask for a take-out box when I go out to eat. You really should try and get a routine down for taking your meds. It's hard but worth it if the meds will make you feel better. Do you have a cell phone or watch that you carry around with an alarm? I used to set my phone to beep everyday at a certain time so I would remember to take my meds.
I remember you a while back saying you were waiting for the doc.... what a slacker doc you have. I'm sorry. I hope you get in soon.

Geez, I remember that too, that was a long time ago... I can't believe that doctor... if he was my doctor, he'd be so fired!!

My daily food schedule usually consists of raisin bran and coffee in the am (around 5:30am), fruit or similar snack around 8am, lunch (mostly soup or sandwich) around 10:30am... snack when I get home(around 4pm)... light dinner at about 7pm... I can't eat after that because of my GERD or its heartburn city all night for me.

i havent been to bad eating today , had half a bottle of sparkilng water and half a chicken sandwhich at 12.00 then have just there had to other half some crisps and chocolate , but after my dinner i thought i was goona explode

the doctord didnt tell me , when i went for my appointment which was before the summer holdiays started he sed i dont know what is wrong it might be ibs or it might b wheat intolerance , but he didnt seem very bothered , then i had a blood test where he tested liver and biochem , then that showed nothing and when i foned they sed no futher action then about a fortnight later i got a letter saying i would be informed of my appointment for an ultrasound , 6 w-7 weeks after the letter we foned and the letter hadnt reached the hosp and that was a month ago

FYI.... Sparkling anything is tough on most IBSers. The carbonation makes us blow up like a balloon and feel gassy and bloated for quite some time afterwards.
Some of us can't handle much chocolate either.
Are you keeping a food diary? If not, maybe you could start. Write down what you ate (the portion too), when you ate it and how it made you feel afterwards. This way you can go back and see exactly what is making you miserable.

just spoke to my mam and she foned hosp today they have recieved my letter but they havent began sorting or goving appointments to letters from july yet

Bad gall bladders can sometimes make people fill full too quickly. As can acid reflux. When my gall bladder was acting up, I would be a little more than halfway through my meal and then... ug! I felt like I had eaten about three bites past the "full" mark and was sick I felt so full. The feeling would just come on me all of a sudden and was fairly unpredictable.

that is exactly what i am like am happily muching away then it hits me and i cant eat another bite it is awful

my mam had gall stones in her early twenties dont think i will tho

Actually, gall bladder disease is genetic. Of course, not everyone "inherits" it, but it does make it more likely you will have problems. My mother had hers out because it was malformed and functioning incorrectly. Mine ended up being chronically inflamed.

oh no!! i know my mam had gall stones and they vlocked something or other so she had an op to get them removed , she has a huge scar, i think she was only about 20-21 when  this happened

Now they remove gall bladders lapriscopically. I only have three scars about 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch in length. The fourth incision is through the navel.

Do you have any other symptoms other than feeling overly full? If not, then you probably have something more in line with acid reflux or a hernia than a gall bladder problem (although some gall bladders have no symtoms, though they may be full of stones or sludge).

my appointment has come through for tues , but 2 appointments have come thru, one for the the 25th and one for the 9 th so i will ave to ring tomorrow sad
