Health anxiety can bring on a lot of issues, you can convince yourself of having something even if you don't (many women that strongly believe they're pregnant and even have positive pregnancy results but actually are not pregnant, how that works I don't know but I've heard of it happening many times over) does it makes sense to worry about having something you may not have? Why not just go to the doctor and see what is/or isn't going on?
Of course stress can cause health issues, there's plenty of evidence of that and many people actually bring health issues on to themselves when they're very stressed out about a variety of things..yes stress can kill...life kills, it's a matter of quality life not quantity though for some it's both quantity and quality...very tough to accomplish in this messed up world no doubt.
Your symptoms do not sound like colon cancer, they sound like classic IBS symptoms to me....many people have colon cancer and don't have symptoms for a long time, if you're concerned it would only make sense to see a doctor.
