Does anyone who has primarily IBS-D find that when they do begin to have normal bowel movements, it is insanely difficult to release a regular bowel movement?

I do not have dry hard stool - it's well shaped and normal. But I cannot pass it!!! The pain!!!!

Is it possible you have an internal hemorrhoid? My IBS is mainly constipation, sometimes (usually during/around the time of my menstrual cycle) diarrhea...and sometimes even when I have D it's painful to pass (though I don't have hemorrhoid's but I do have some scaring in my rectum from my crohn's disease which is in remission now) so possibly for you there might be an internal hemmie making it painful to pass, which is quite common.

No, it isn't a hemmeroid. It's abdominal pain. I feel like I'm backed up to my throat. But it isn't dry and large constipation. Would functional constipation be the correct description? It is soft and formed but I'm having heck of a time passing it. It just doesn't want to leave me, I guess. Lol

Oh, I see, well that's a tough one for sure....have you seen a doc about this? Not sure what the correct description of it would be.

Oh yeah, I've been tested for IBD, Lupus - everything I guess. I have a tentative IBS and seronegative arthritis diagnosis for now.

I started taking Vimovo (naproxen) for my joint pain and I'm guessing that's is what caused the shift of my bowel habits. I've had a hard mass in my lower right abdomen for a year and since the bowel changes, the mass has grown. I should be clear - the mass is swelling. It isn't a hernia. It isnt a tumour. Right now my doctor has me seeing a Chiropractor to see if the mass is PSOAS muscle.........they are taking a wait and see approach right now but yeah, they know.

Oh gosh, that sounds horrid, it's got to be the reason why you're having difficulty would be my guess, especially if other bowel disease have been ruled out. All kinds of meds can cause constipation type issues and it sounds like that may possibly be causing this problem for you.

Hope it gets figured out for you very soon, nothing worse than suffering with ongoing bowel issues.
