I am desperately thinking about suicide it hurts so bad

I have been diagnosed with IBS and have never experienced nothing like this pain before. I have had it for over twenty years but just recently found out what it is and it gets worse the older I get it hurts so bad often I think about committing suicide I am tired of living like this my stomach bloats up really bad the pain is awful I don't sleep for about three days I am sore and I get it every week and sometimes every other week can someone please help me is there any medicine for this I have been to 5 gastro doctors and have been on all types of medicines and none seems to help I have had all types of tests done also

I'm sorry you are in such pain, sharon. Please explain what dietary changes you have tried and what meds you have tried.

Do you have constipation or diarrhea?

If you can take a vacation, do it ! I did 4 times in the past & my symptoms went away. Can't say it will work for sure, but if you can get away from the stress that's in your life, it could really help.
I'm having a flare up now, I feel you're pain, & I have to try to get away too, it's not easy, depending on your circumstances, I KNOW ! Hang in there !

I understand your feelings! I've hurt like that. Not always, but just had an attack couple days ago. Still not over it.
Hobbling around like I've had surgery or something.
So sorry for your pain. Hope you are better now.

So sorry you are suffering so much.

Have you had any tests done in recent years? What meds have you been on recently? What other symptoms do you have--diarrhea/constipation/other? Do you think the bloating is gas related, something you ate, another medication you take?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get more info to try to help in some way.

One other thing…now I am not discounting your pain or saying it's in your head, but have you gone to therapy while dealing with all this? They may be able to help you find hope, figure out how to deal with it better emotionally, even if they can't help w/ the physical stuff. I know I have been in therapy for the past 20 years (I'm 37), and I have lots of chronic medical conditions. It does help to have someone to talk to, someone who won't judge you, and someone who can help you figure out how to keep going when it feels impossible. Also might help to post on the depression board just to get your feelings out.

I am not in your shoes but I certainly do understand GI problems (just had a colostomy and still have chronic constipation issues, etc), and also the feelings of helplessness and hopelessness that get so bad that you just want to end it to end the pain.

But i will tell you that there is hope. I lived with the problems of chronic constipation and bowel incontinence (along with bladder urinary retention and incontinence, weird combination I know) for my whole life. Finally sought help for the bladder at age 19, and for the GI stuff at age 35. Don't give up. It can and will get better.

Please hang in there. One crappy day at a time, right? If you want to talk privately, let me know, I will give you my email address. I really feel for you, I know how it can be to suffer for so long without finding help/a solution. You end up feeling alone, hopeless, frustrated, and like no one "gets it". Please keep coming back and DO NOT GIVE UP!

You might try getting yourself some live kefir culture (either water or milk). I had IBS so bad that twice I ended up in the hospital because they thought I had appendicitis. A couple of years ago someone gave me some live water kefir and I started cultivating and brewing my own kefir and drinking it. My IBS got lots better, I was able to stop taking Prilosec and dicyclomine and now I don't even have to drink kefir any more because the changes it made in my gut have been seemingly permanent (for a year so far). One of the nice things about kefir is that it has a calming effect (because it has Tryptophan) so it has also been good for my depression.

Have you tried a microbiome transplant ? They work, if done correctly.

I hear you, Sharon. You just want this living nightmare of a prison sentence to end.

I feel the same way. I just want to go to sleep and never wake up again. It's not that I want to die, but, I want these contrary gut issues to die. It's so unpredictable that it makes living in this life a VERY unpleasant ordeal.

Ever since something was "off" in my gut four years ago, it has continued to worsen. This year is the worse yet. I've missed so much work, that I'm preparing for a medical separation (my choice). I was diagnosed with "IBS" July 2012, but, based on my research, it sounds like a catch all term, really just a symptom and not the cause.
