is this ibs? dr says gallbladder?

Ok i have always had diarrhea, i mean like for yrs, lately when i eat lettuce or apples it comes back out, sorry tmi! Anyways lately i have had a dull like aggervated spot on my right rib area on and off, feeling like a ball inside, mucas in stool, loud gurgling noises, and excessive gas. Oh and i had a slight low grade fever 99.2, mucas and once i pooed fever went away and so did dull pain, still feel like a ball but nothing painful. Dr pushed around on stomach and nothing hurt except my rib itself was sore but that was it. Dr scheduled me to have an ultrasound due Tuesday for gallbladder. Nurse thinks its ibs. Any takes?? Thank you

Good idea to test the gall bladder. I've had friends that had similar symptoms, had the gall bladder removed, and they were fine. I had mine removed because it could of been my problem, but it wasn't. I have post infectious IBS. I missed out on 2014 cause I couldn't do anything because the pain in my upper abdomen was so great. I'm doing better now. I do mostly gluten free, no caffeine, etc. But really, after a year of suffering, what saved me was nortriptylin. It enables me to function with no pain. I have very few bad days, watch my diet, and eat mostly gluten free. I would rather not have to take a drug, but til I'm 100 percent I will.

I am new to the forum, but you sound just like I did 2 months ago. long story short, after 2 gall bladder tests being negative, I had a colonoscopy that revealed H pylori infection, moderate hiatal hernia and intestinal bile refluxing into my stomach. the symptoms, for me, included severe abdominal swelling (when I was hungry especially,) bloody stools/ rectal bleeding, bad heartburn, wake-you-up kind of cramping, loss of weight and no appetite, and a perpetual 99.5 degree temp... I have had IBS for decades at this point, and the h pylori was very much like really terrible IBS. My specialist gave me the triple treatment, which you can look up if you're not familiar. I had this done in July. At first I felt much better, but it slowly went back to misery.

Today, after continued problems like the above, a fecal lab revealed C Diff. That's what led me to this forum. So today I started another antibiotic regimen, yippee.

IMHO, you need to do some things: 1. read all you can on the topic, both to familiarize yourself with the condition and to have meaningful discourse with your docs; 2. keep on your docs to keep checking till a problem is found (advocate for yourself... the longer these illnesses go untreated, the worse it gets;) 3.keep a journal, or at least be very aware of what you take in, food, med n liquid wise, and what goes out, to try n find triggers and patterns; 4. find a relaxation method, because IBS alone will stress you out, never mind anything worse, and when your colon isn't absorbing or even producing the right stuff, you will feel run over more so than not.

IBS stinks. There's no two ways around it. H pylori and c diff are terrible. If I hadn't kept pestering my docs, they would never have caught the infections as they all said 'oh its just hemorroids and IBS.' Indeed!
