NO APPETITE!

i may have mentioned that i lost weight a while ago b4 i went to the docs with my pains , i didnt have an appetite i was just not hungry and whne i tried to eat i felt sick and when i did eat i got bad pains , this sparked anorexia concerns with friends and family so i went to the docs , he didnt ask about my weight or weigh me or anything, i have again gone of my food , the other day all day i had a sandwhich i ate half of it for my dinner and saved the other half for tea , my mam is going on at me to eat , yesterday i had two small sandwhiches and a very small cake thing , i think my dad is worried too cos he mad me breakfast this morning which i didnt eat, i am not trying to eat less i just really dont want to eat but last time a friend got very concerned i was anorexic and i dont want to scare people again

If you don't eat or you get your body used to not eating, your stomach will shrink and it will lessen your appetite however it will kill your metabolism and possibly cause worse for your body. I don't enjoy being overweight (slightly LOL) however I know that I need to keep eating just so that I keep my metabolism healthy. It might sound strange, but you need to practice eating again. It has to be gradual though. You will make yourself sick if you just try and eat normally when your body is not used to it. Recovering anorexic persons are always put on a slow increase in calories. You need to find a doctor who will take this seriously because this is a serious issue. I don't mean to scare you hon, but please get some help... we care about you.

HI! YOU FEEL EXACTLY HOW I DO. I CAN RELATE TOTALLY. I  HAVE FAMILY THAT GETS ON ME ALL THE TIME about MY WEIGHT. SOMEDAYS I EAT FINE AND THEN OTHER DAYS I AM JUST NOT HUNGRY. I WANT TO GAIN WEIGHT SO BAD. THE DOCTOR HAS NEVER SAID ANYTHING about MY WEIGHT EITHER. I WANT TO EAT BUT I AM SO AFRAID OF ENDING UP IN THE BATHROOM AT WORK. I CAN'T EAT A BIG MEAL EVEN IF I TRY. SOMETIMES I CAN'T GET THROUGH A MEAL WITHOUT MY STOMACH STARTING TO HURT OR GURGLING WHICH THEN I KNOW I AM IN TROUBLE. I HAD NEVER BEEN LIKE THIS BEFORE MY IBS. IT HAS TOTALLY CONTROLLED ME. I THINK THAT I NEED TO START DRINKING BOOST LIKE ANOTHER SUGGESTED, BUT I WISH I COULD JUST EAT NORMAL LIKE OTHERS.

I can relate to all of you! I feel like I'm starving to death and then when I eat, I get sick to my stomach and have to run to the bathroom and get horrible gas pains.....if I don't get all the gas out of my stomach, I will throw up and it starts as soon as food hits my stomach. What the heck is going on???

I have a colonoscopy/endoscopy scheduled for Tuesday and I really hope they find something besides this IBS-D diagnosis that I have right now. It seems like something else to me with all the nausea and indigestion. I really have more upper GI issues than lower GI issues......well, I think the Upper GI issues are triggering my IBS-D. But, I just started taking Pamine Forte for the spasms......we'll see if it makes me C?! So far, my throat is dry but I have been sipping on water with honey in it all day and it helps.

But, I still haven't been able to eat hardly anything. Cream of Wheat, oatmeal (almost came back up) and jello. Sometimes I am hungry and sometimes I just don't even want to look at food and I'm losing weight like a crazy woman. I weighed 116 lbs in July and now I'm 105. That is not good for me. I should be in the 120 lb range. That's when I feel my best.

How will I ever be able to eat again????

aww poor u i hope they find out what is wrong , not sure how much i weigh - i cant work in llbs lol but have looked on a converotr on internet , and think i weigh 100.8llbs - although i am not bery clever so i might be wrong

Ah yes, the grandmothers know and notice everything LOL. When I was pregnant with my son, my grandmother knew I was pregnant before anyone else (and that was before I told her).

myself i have the fear of vomiting. and i feel when i eat it just sits there in one big clump!, i seem to swallow a lot cause im constistantly sipping on water, i get panick attacks wich leads to nasuea and i feel like im gonna through up...what i do that seems to help a bit.. is eating slow, and smaller amounts not hugge meals..its most likely indegestion, i take tumms after meals (meals to me are toast ect.) and i do something to keep my mind off things i cant stand the full feeling so i just go for a walk( a gentle walk no power walking!:P) or corchet whatever you can do that your interested in.. i used to not eat cause i got that feeling all the time and trust me i find a couple hours of agony after i eat is way better then having no energy and feeling like a zombie from not eating..i had to like someone else said on here to start slow with crackers and easy to digest things, ( after a while they make you nauseous)... then what i found was helpfull was to eat a tiny bit of something i crave..(potato chip) just a little bit to try to get your apetite back... also ginger tea or gingerlale(flat) will increase an apetite and its good for nausea..well there you go you got a lot to try:) hope some of this will at least do u some good

I hope they find out what's wrong with you, too. It doesn't sound like you are having much fun eating, either. Eating is supposed to be ENJOYABLE!!! I hate not being able to eat!!

I worked with a very thin woman who admitted that some days she just forgot to eat because she never felt hungry. She wasn't anorexic thin, but she was very, very slender. Some people are just made that way, I guess, but she didn't have any digestive problems that I'm aware of. Her son was also a picky eater, despite being a teenager; inherited it from her, I guess. And your appetite can change gradually over time as well; my grandmother claims that she used to be plump (I can't tell it from the pictures), but she's been very skinny since I've known her; I wish I could get by on her portion sizes and be smaller too.

Notice to any who may smoke: nicotine, tar, etc. ruins your sense of smell and thus ruins your tastebuds as well. A lot of people lose weight because of smoking, but it may not be because it's an appetite suppressant so much as it ruins the taste of food and turns people off it. It also worsens the gag reflex in a lot of people.

Then I would suggest you make the most of what small portions you are eating by eating high fat foods (if your guts can tolerate it).  Make them good quality--not McDonald's.  Try full fat yogurt, whole milk and fatty cheeses.  Make little French dishes with cream.  There's not a lot there to eat, but hopefully you will be getting the calories you need to function properly.  Nuts are also a good source of good fats and are high in calories.  I'm rather fond of almond butter on apples, although the apples are no longer so fond of me.  I'm sure you could find something else to put it on, though.  Fish is also good for you, although not very high in calories.  You just have to be careful and make sure that what you do eat is at least good for you; if people see you eating healthy foods, even if you don't eat so much of them, they will be less likely to criticize. 

funny you say eat fatty foods like dairy im lactose and tolerant.  and yeah i find not eating does make me more nauseous your stomach just growls and quivers plus when you do eat the food to acid ratio is little food to enormouse amounth of acid, plus the stress and panick about vomit make anything you put into your stomach harder to digest. lately im trying to keep lbusy while i eat. like im on here typing away as im eating to keep my mind off the fear of vomiting. i dont vomit though mabey cause im on gravol or at least have gravol near by just in case i feel that way ..which is trust me not a good thing to take all the time, when you  go off them you feel nauseaus its a lose lose situation:/ but mabey also try to drink some teas after a meal (just sip on them) like chamamile(however you spell that) or ginger tea (very light if you first start drinking it) its strong, but it gets your digestive juices flowing... heres a website all should see on teas and the benifets of them www.traditionalmedicinals.com

Congrats on getting throught the scope! See, it wasn't so bad. I am glad to hear they didn't find anything in there. Although, I am very sorry to hear about the hernia. Aren't those supposed to be operated on? I never had one so I cannot help you there. Hopefully someone here can help. I just hope your meds start kicking in and you get to feeling better.
