Help Please!!!

Hi! I have been sick for three months! Started off with cramps (severe pain),nausea and diarrhea/ constipation w/blood. I thought that I had caught a bug that was going around. So I finally went to the doctor.  He let it run for two weeks, Kept checking my blood ( I had high white cells) and had me on antibotics. By the end of the second week he put me in the hospital, running ivs through me with antibotics and potasim. I stayed in the hospital for 2 days. My mouth had also broke out with bumps and was very hard to eat or drink anything. Two weeks later I was back in the hospital and stayed 5 days with antibotics. They have done a colonoscopy, barium swallow upper gi,  ct scans, and regular ex rays.

I have had constant pain the whole time at first the pain radiated in my lower abdomin, then moved to the left side w/lap so they thought that I had diverticutilis. That eased off after about a month and then it went to my right side w/ pain still in my lower ab pain. Then it started hurting under my right breast felt like there was a bubble under there with pain. I thought that this was probably gas built up. I have been bloated the whole time.

I went to the Gi for the first time this week and he ordered blood work and another ct scan. He looked at my mouth and said that it was not thrush mouth (what they had been treating me for), but that I had b-12 diffeciency. He thought that I had crohn's!

Well waiting for more results can be stressful!  The nurse finally called today and said that he had looked over all the test and that he thought that I had ibs and functinal abdominal pain. He ordered zelnorm?????    

Everytime that I have put my symptoms in on the puter it comes up crohn's or cancer! Abdominal pain,nausea, bloating, constipation, blood in stool, Mouth breakouts  and weak. Sometimes with dissy feeling when I get up and move around.

I am taking nausea pills, darvocet(only when i can't stand it ), Glycolax and laxatives, premarin.

Can anyone help? I am so sick of being sick! The pain is constant and the nausea just about kills me I can smell food cooking and get sick to my stomach.

When he looked at the images that I took with me to his office he said that there was narrowing in my small intestins. Then when the nurse called from his office she said all the test were fine! That he wanted me to try zelnorm! When they took the first colonscopy he said that I was all red and irritated inside and that the biopsy came back colitis. The glycolax didn't work for me so I have to use the laxitives.

Hey Flower Lady, I'm sorry you're going through this. 

The fact that your colon looks red and inflamed means you likely have colitis in some form (ulcerative colitis or possibly Crohn's).  Zelnorm I don't think is indicated in inflammatory bowel disease.  If your doc is telling you your pain is functional, you should find a new doc.  An inflamed bowel will certainly be painful!

As far as going through all this testing with no clear answers, I totally commiserate with you.  I went down to the Mayo Clinic a couple months ago for my problem, the symptoms of which are chronic watery diarrhea, abdominal pain (sometimes extremely severe), low-grade fever, blood in my stool, rectal skin tags, canker sores...all classic symptoms of Crohn's disease and at first that was everyone's guess.  I had plenty of tests; small bowel series showing narrowing in my small intestine as well, upper endoscopy showing gastric erosions, positive fecal occult blood and leukocyte tests.  But my two colonoscopies were clear, as was a CT scan.  The Mayo GIs acknowledged that these are not symptoms of IBS but thought it was some kind of post-infectious process after having a history of parasitic infections from Africa when I lived there for a few months.  But there is little they are doing to help me other than pushing "more fiber, more fiber" (I take six tablets a day of it, plus probiotics, calcium, zinc, etc. all of which are supposed to bind you up).  It's infuriating!
