TOTAL Impaction Graphic!

Well Monday and Tuesday I was feeling better so I was out and about. I had to take my son to the doctor and pick up his prescriptions on Tuesday got home about 5:00 and hit the bathroom my stomach was cramping bad and making all kinds of funny noises! I had not went to the bathroom since last Tuesday when the doc had put me on the Zelnorm( had diahrea after taking it). I just kept waiting because they told me that it would regulate me! Well I set on the stool for an hour and half trying everything. Finally could not take it anymore so I called the emergency room and spoke to a nurse. She told me that I was going to have to break it up, I informed her that I had already tried that before I called her, that I had tried everything!!!!!! I was sweating, nausea and very sick. She ask who my doc was and if I had called him. I told her no (I didn't have his personal number, But I do now!) She said she would contact him, well it was a few minutes and he called and told me to get to the hospital. So we rushed up there. When I went in the women at the desk ask if she could help and all I could tell her was that my doctor told me to come in immediately! She thought that I was pregenant!! and tried to send me to OB I was already embarrassed enough! SO I go in the room and they want me to sit down! yeah like that is going to happen! They finally get me on the bed and we wait for the doc.He tries to manually remove! Then they give me enema, that doesn't work. SO they give me another. Nothing then they finally tell us that they are admitting me in the hospital that they have to get this out! THey finally give me a dimarol shot. They had to keep working with me over the portable potty! I could have died and just kept appolizing sp? I felt so bad! For the women that have had a baby this felt alot like that when you are having to bear down! They give me two more enemas and this does the trick. By now it is like 2 in the morning. I am totally drained physically and mentally. I forgot to say that I was also dehydrated and they had a hard time getting the iv in me. The next morning the doc comes in and I told him that they were going to have to find out what was wrong with me, and he said just bad case of spastic colon! They released me from the hospital and told me to take  Zelnorm and to take dolcolax, glycolax, and milk of magnesia. Well I thought that the whole purpose of taking the Zelnorm was to get off the exlax! I am so sore that I can't move! and still drained. I am about to give up! what can I do?????  what is causing all of this! I do know one thing I will make sure that I go to the restroom and not wait.          

I have taken the laxatives from the get go.

I have been on the miralax and it didn't work. It seems that nothing that they give me works. They did tell me at the hospital to drink my fruit juice warm. I really think that I had the blockage for over a week. When I had went before it was D and they said that when you have a blockage that you could have D because it would go around the blockage. I am also still having blood in my stools. The doc just said that that was do to my C. Well that was even when I was having soft stools from keeping my bowels moving.

 They told me tha I didn't have hemm. The blood is in the poop and I have a lot of mucos with the blood. I wish that I could switch docs too. No Insurance makes it very hard. My doc told me that there was no need for me to go back to the Gi that I saw, that he could run the test at his hospital.  

This is a tough one. I'm not sure that I could settle for an IBS diagnosis with blood in my stool. The problem is that without insurance you will spend a boat-load of $$$ on testing.
Like Keri mentioned, maybe you should see about taking stool softeners for now. Maybe it will help. If not, you should really see about getting more thorough tests.

Make them scope you and if that doesn't turn anything up, ask for ultrasounds and the like. I'm afraid you have a serious problem. The good news is that a blockage can be fixed (although that usually means surgery :-( ), so if that's your problem, you'll at least be able to look forward to some relief. You may want to go to the pharmacy and pick up the stuff they make you take for a colonoscopy--go lyghtly and/or Fleets phospho soda--and just take it all weekend until you can get to the G.I. It shouldn't be as harmful as a chemical laxative (I'm almost convinced that the go lyghtly stuff is made from Epsom salts since they both have that thick, back-of-your-throat salty taste). The other thing you could do is go on a liquid diet; that will keep you from having stools to pass, so it will give your poor rectum and stomach muscles a breather. And if you do that all day Sunday at least, and have been on the colon cleaner stuff that long too, tell your G.I. that on Monday and he should be able to schedule you a colonoscopy immediately so hopefully you won't have to wait any longer.
