Just wanted to tell you that I went to the Gi on Monday. He told me to quit taking the zelnorm because it wasn't working. Then he told me that he was going to check me for LUPUS???? This really puzzles me?? I had ask him if my gallbladder could be causing me all these problems. Well

they took my blood and a urine sample. Then Tuesday I went in for a ultrasound. I was really tender and hurt quite a bit. I ask her but she said that she couldn't tell me anything, that the doctor would have the results in a couple of days. I ask her if they were just checking my gallbladder, she told me that she was checking my gallbladder, spleen and liver. Has anyone else been through this? I am not sure why he thinks that I may have Lupus. confused

Hi Flower Lady,
Hopefully, your doctor doesn't have any reason to suspect Lupus and maybe they are just wanting to rule it out. As far as checking your gallbladder, spleen and liver, those are all areas covered under the GI specialist so he was probably just doing a really thorough job. What did he say when you asked him if the gallbladder could be causing the problems? I wish you luck on your results. Please update us and take care. Try not to worry too much. :)

 Thanks for posting. Still waiting! When I ask him about the Gallbladder, He just said that it wouldn't cause C, but he was going to check it out anyway, because of my pain that I am having. The pain is now all over my stomach. But now it really hurts under the breast. Have pain in my shoulder. Having a terrible time!

I've never heard of gall bladder causing constipation either, but you can be causing it by taking too much anti-diarrhea meds (I swung back an dforth until I learned how much medicine to take to stop the diarrhea without constipating myself the next day), or if you are that way naturally anyways, it could make you teeter between the two extremes as you have normal days and abnormal days.

The other thing is that bile regulates a breakdown in food. Have too much and you have diarrhea; have none at all and you may just experience constipation (although I have read that fat that's not broken down by bile leads to diarrhea).
