I am a 29 year old male. I have had stomach aches quite often on and off for many years. I have GERD and anxiety disorders, which I thought were the causes of my stomach aches.
More recently, though, I sometimes get the urge to have a bowel movement come on very suddenly, usually after a meal but not always, and I have to go to the bathroom quickly as it feels like I will be unable to hold it for long.
When I do go, it seems to explode out of my anus with a bit of force. The consistency is not of diarrhea but it is soft and not well-formed.
There seems to be periods of time where this "flares up" and happens to me for several days and then I go back to normal bowel movements. I am always anxious when leaving the house due to my anxiety but during this time I especially fear going number two in my pants because the urge to go comes on so suddenly and without warning and becomes difficult to hold very quickly. When I do force myself to hold it my stomach can become very painful and it seems like I will no longer be able to hold it. I haven't had any accidents yet but it seems like it's just a matter of time.
The fear and pain is really affecting my quality of life.
I've mentioned the sudden urge to go to doctors before and they seem to blow it off.
Does this sound like IBS? Should I see the doctor again? I don't have fever or blood in my stool so does that mean it can't be IBD-or can it still be? If it is IBS, what can I do to make it go away?
Thank you so much for the help.
