Where's your pain mostly?

Hi all,

   I've been lucky, in that I've never had alot of pain with this.  But recently, I've started having very low abdominal pain.........like over my bladder.  I was just curious as to where most of you have your pain from IBS.  Thanks.

Mine is also mostly on the left hand side but sometimes when my gas pains are really bad it will hurt most right above my belly button. It feels sometimes like its in knots literally.

Yes, lower left for me as well. Sometimes though, trasnversly over my stomach.

But the lower left is a given for me! sad

Mine is usually way up into my ribs, or right under them, and across my bellybutton and where I have period pain. I never have it on the lower sides tho..is that weird???

Mine is usually on my lower right side and sometimes on my upper right side (like you, blondie, mine is occassionally right under my ribs. It sometimes actually makes mt lower ribs tender to the touch.)

The LLQ (lower left quadrant) is the most common area for pain and discomfort however pain can affect you almost anywhere. There is no diseased part of the colon with IBS so the pain can radiate through your entire colon (which is shaped like a upside down "U" or horseshoe). Generally IBS pain is caused by cramping (spasms) and gas pains.
